This is the museum on the little island of Sansø. I really wanted to go to it...I loved the idea of a museum dedicated just to Austins in Denmark! Now I will never get to go....

****sticks!

That's an amazing collection. Such a shame though.... to amass such an array only to have been penalised heavily, ruining his involvement and shutting the facility

Wonder if that's the same half crab that used to languish over here?

Also wonder what's going on with that A60 and the A55 front.   Can't work out from the Danish text if it was built that way.

Got to say, though, Walter & Trofast has a nice ring to it!

As I understand it there was some sort of trade preference for British cars in DK, with both Britain and Denmark being outside the EEC at the time and the Danes selling lots of bacon and agricultural stuff in the UK. So for a time up to around 1977/8 BMC/BL had a decent chunk of the danish market - around 20%. The distribution used to be managed through local agents and the main one for what became BMC/BL was a ex bus manufacturer called DOMI. They set up what was effectively a production line to carry out checks (reassembly!) of the cars sent over from the UK, so as I understand that gave the opportunity for some local variations on the model range. Maybe the A55/60 was one??

Can I ask Faker what was penalised about this?  EDIT: I read it.  All about tax as it was considered a hobby.

Looks an amazing collection.  Just goes to show, you visit a museum and it seems kind of permanent, but just nothing is for ever.

I assume he claimed it was a business and claimed deductions on that basis. I'm not sure there was a charge for going in - if entry was free then I guess that was the problem. SKAT (the Danish tax authority.....just to mention they do a very difficult job and do it very well. Much appreciated...thanks!) take the whole tax collection thing quite seriously, so I guess thats how he got himself deep in the doo-doo

What a pity
