Focus is the same platform as the Mazda 3 and shares a lot of similarities between them.

Indeed.

this had much more in the way of rear arches and no MOT history of TEH RUST.

matey seems happy so I class that as a win:)

Popping into the Cairngorm brewery on your way out (north) ?

(edit, thinking about it, their stuff is cheaper in Tescos than from the brewery..)

Well this wee thing has been earning its keep this week..

1000 miles in so far since last wed. seems to do 51+ mpg on the 3 tanks it has had (tiny 35l tank!)

Cost a total of £100 in fuel, and with journies for work yesterday and today, I've covered that off:)

its comfortable enough for the motorway/dual carriage way work, and the wee 1.4 has plenty grunt if you rag it.

the short wheelbase and relatively wide track means its stable whilst hooning (Berriedale braes for those in the know).

Only real killers are lack of boot space-solved by using the rear seat, and a lack of range die to the small tank-solvedd by putting more fuel in.

How many miles are you getting to a tank? I have to make do with just 27 litres.

Biggest fill has been 27L (fuel light seems to come on with 6l left according to book)

that did me 304.9 miles

As the end of October hoves into view, a quick summation of the first month on the road..

Miles completed 2269

Fuel used 204L

Fuel cost £231

MPG 50.57

no ftps, the occasional lamda code (tadts).

What I like

Fuel economy

"Big engine,little car" feel

High grip levels

Passenger space for front folks (not run it 4 up yet)

What I dislike

Silly little fuel tank (35L) meaning effective range of 320 miles

Stupidly small boot

Dead steering feel

Cupholder makes clutch impossible to operate

What's the NVH like on these? Noisy small car or quiet, refined German motor?

It's the one thing that puts me off small cars, I've yet to find one that is quiet and smooth as big luxo barges. Or even one that comes anywhere even close.

Good question!

It rides on 175/65/13s so soaks up bumps fairly well. The short wheelbase can mean a choppy ride on badly damaged road surfaces.

At sustained 70mph it turns 3k in top so not too noisy.

The engine is noisy when pressed hard but performs ok.

Rear parcel shelf rattles too!

This lil buggah has now left the building..

Sold to some folks from north of Inverness. Suffice to say, she washed her face and I'm now on the prowl for a replacement..

Was going to ask if this was going to be for sale soon but held back thinking you were so pleased with it. Bugger it.
