I Iove cheap jags. I think I've had 10 but I've lost count. I always seem to end up paying £500 for them which is the sweet spot really, enough that you can pick a decent one from the dogs but cheap enough that they can be ditched if something big goes wrong ( actually, touch wood that's not happened yet in my cheap jag addiction) There's also something a bit rogue-ish about a cheap, preferably shabby old jag that's hard not to like; some cars only look " right" when they're pristine, but jags are comfortable in thier own skin even if its a bit battered.

Isn't that the test for a properly good car, where beauty is more than skin deep? I look at modern stuff (including Jags) and think, Jeez, that'll look terrible with a replacement wing/scratched/dented.

.

Ken Jenkins - Calton Autos Ltd, Worksop were always good n fair when it came to parts and advice.. Run by an old boy, with years of real experience and a gent to deal with,  and his daughters - I'd recommend them.

Did they have a thing for blokes in Jags, how many of them were there?

Ive had this for 4 years, most reliable car I've owned, no rust underneath but shagged front wings

That's amazing..  true shite B)

I'd be very tempted to repeatedly park it outside a Jaguar dealership and not say a word ..until they are embarrassed enough by 'the advert' to  give in and fit you with a new pair of front wings ..free-gratis !

I've still got my mk10 but haven't driven it for 3 years

Mk 10 was always one of my schoolboy favourites.  Oozed class ...with reflections of the ever sexy Lady Penelope

Grace, Pace and Space in abundance.

Rarely seen and so often forgotten.   Perhaps now that UK roads have opened up as motorways, dual carriageways, and bypasses - their time has finally come to shine.?   ..definitely worth preserving.   8)

My MK10 (4.2 FJU 99C) was the car I have so far owned the longest - 8 years. I will always have the juicy scar across my forehead from when the bastard fell on me! I did love that car and used to potter about in it all week then at weekends give it death, it was like two different car!

They are BIG buggers though and mine got hit several times during my ownership usually along the sides though I once knocked down my girlfriends parents garage when the brakes failed as I went down their drive! Garage door and frame was a mess but the Jaguar survived remarkably well. Also, on the first day of a  new registration letter, had a woman in a brand new (that day) Ford reverse into me in a carpark in Rugby - much shattered glass and a bootlid flying open on the Ford. I feared for the old lass (my car that is) but apart from a tiny scratch above the outer passenger side headlight, not a mark! The Ford (model forgotten) looked like a write off!

I always loved series three XJ6s, they just looked 'right' to me but the last few I had were old and tired, well, worn out really and sort of spoiled it.

Edit: just checked and my MK10 was last taxed in 1984 which was when I sold it, so it seems its final resting place was the field were my stepdad left it! It was running well and he wanted it soooooo much - twat!
