Bren Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 My old man's 03 passat tdi (pd) has developed an annoying habit - it loses coolant despite having a new rad and pressure cap. It is leaking from somewhere at the rear of the engine but he cannot see exactly where.Any thoughts?
Lacquer Peel Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Head gasket? I don't think there are any coolant pipes at the back of the engine, based on the pre-PD engine. Let me be the first to say VAG SHITE.
Kiltox Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 The coolant temperature sensor isn't there like it is on the 1.8T is it?
Bren Posted August 25, 2016 Author Posted August 25, 2016 There is no pattern - it can go weeks and lose nothing then it may lose a litre in a day.
twosmoke300 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 There are quite a few pipes and sensors on the back of a pd head . Twats to see to diagnose too .Had it got an egr cooler ? They are favourites for random water loss .
HMC Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I thought this was going to be a thread about the wanky design of pollen filter housing/location on these...... Painful memories.... twosmoke300 1
