Parky Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 If it's a VW, why not sand the paint off various panels and wait for them to rust? Cover another panel or a rear window with loads of stickers. I reckon that would look dead good and a bit different.... garethj, rml2345, John F and 3 others 6
plasticvandan Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 You need that "Detailing World" guy who checked the thickness of the paint on his Astra before applying 57 coats of whale jizz for ultimate protection. He would sort it out no problem, except he would take six months to do it.The machine polish and fancy potions ideas are all spot on but this is Autoshite, surely you have a 15 year old half empty bottle of crusty T-Cut in your shed??? That and some old pants for application and polishing off and job jobbed!Old pants? Does that mean you are meant to throw them out? Vince70 1
D Spares & Tyres Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 No cure I`m afraid ( for buying crap cars I mean)
michael1703 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I've got a merc sprinter at work that needs a bit of cutting, I'll get a pic on Monday, it's really bad It also looks like it's been stone chipped half way up
UmBongo Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 In negotiations to buy a 1990 Kraut car with faded water based red paint. Sadly it's pogweasel pink on several panels and therefore I was wondering if there's any magic potions to sort the problem out? Three bottles of T-Cut and Ralph Macchio's right arm should do the trick.
PhilA Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Found on my red Bluebird that old T-Cut and a pair of old brown corduroy towers worked the best. Follow up with whatever wax was on the shelf in the shed. Lasted a good long time before it started going pink again.
vulgalour Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Another vote for T-Cut here. Apply the T-Cut with a misting of water from a spray bottle when you apply, it works loads better and takes a lot of the effort out. Work on a panel at a time to make the job more bearable and remember to wax (Turtle Wax surprisingly good) afterwards to keep the paint sealed and prevent further pogweaselling. Or just rock it as it is, it'll look red when it rains. Pogweasel is the chameleon paint of the Autoshite world. Vantman, somewhatfoolish and Banger Kenny 3
