Water & oil don't mix well...

Hello

I'm enjoying a summer sabbatical from Autoshite, but just had to pop in and share this.

I had a call from my ex-wife panicking because she wanted to top up her washer bottle and accidentally poured "a small amount of water" into the oil by mistake. As she was pleading poverty and my daughter also uses the car (Pug 307), I agreed to head over and change the oil and check it out.

It seems she drove the car a mile home from the garage where she put the water in, but it was smoking and running badly by the time she got home.

Under the bonnet was a mess, oil everywhere, so I jacked the car up, grabbed a bowl and removed the sump plug...this was the result.

Roughly 8 litres of coffee coloured sludge. "A little bit of water" must have been more like 4 litres of water

Anyway, I changed the oil & filter and unbelievably it fired up, albeit smoking like a laboratory beagle. One Italian tune up later and the smoke dissipated and all appears to be OK. I left her with the advice to have another oil change in a couple of hundred miles and drove off into the sunset shaking my head.

Some folk are just lucky...

what a mess ! I'll bet you a pound that the next oil change doesn't happen in 200 miles

This gets right on my tits.

If someone said they put a small amount of water into the oil I would assume like a cupfull and tell them it would be ok and not to worry. 1 inevitable engine blowup later and it would all be my fault.

If you fuck up....I dont care, but tell me the fucking truth.

I have lost count of the number of times someone has asked for my help and my questions provoke the shifty eyes and evasive half answers.

That looks delicious.

Plus, technically that proves that oil and water CAN mix, it's just not the best idea to do it like that.

If that had been my ex wife I would have similarly helped out but would have accidentally loosened all the wheel nuts, cut the brake lines, pricked holes in the fuel line and hid 3 not so fresh haddock behind the dash.

The banger racer over the road told me when he lost all the oil in his engine during a race he just put water in and it lasted a bit longer!

That would be some peoples solution for the current wife, let alone the ex.

Disclaimer: I respect the laydees and would not do that to Mrs TW, even if she were being a total bellend.
