castros_bro Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Sleep on you drunken old garlic breathed tosspot I've rammed that shitty Clio into the Awful Tower and now Castros_bro has till Friday to dispose of it. With an MOT and still drives good. Nice headlamps aarrfff aarrfff ! does anyone want bits from 1.6 Auto Clio with Aircon before it goes on it final beaver tailed journey on Friday ?
Sigmund Fraud Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Oh, no ! Is there anything wrong with it apart from the obvious ?
cobblers Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 well, the headlight is smashed for a start. The Moog and Sigmund Fraud 2
castros_bro Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Cartakeback will pay £30. so basically free. Not an insurance claim. MOT start of October 2016, car is at Godalming GU7 XXX. I have driven it like this but it needs a bit of fettling to keep using it, bonnet bending a bit to clear (the new) nearside headlamp, bit of headlamp mount bending, bumper mounting on nearside where currently held on with eclectic cable, radiator mountings reinstated. But it does go well and it was used everyday - went to Leeds Uni and Bristol Uni 3 up with loads of bags and I don't like autos - before it's prang. 66k miles, I'd do something with it but the owner's house is sold and she moves next week so no time. 50% chance of taking it to SF16 Sunday if someone wants it and pops for the insurance. I can get some more photos if any one is interested. The only thing better would be an ole Renner Megane diesel but I find peeps borrow it an won't let me have it back. eddyramrod 1
castros_bro Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Either/both. If no-one wants it whole then the beaver tail takes it Friday so bits (without making it non-collectable) are available.
bub2006 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Sorry ignore me. Was thinks ng out loud for a city car to lessen mileage on the xantia but I didn't realise it was a 1.6 or how to get it here!
castros_bro Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Nae probs. I wouldn't usually bother but it's such a nice car to drive in a "go somewhere and then come back is nae prob" kind of way the beaver tail is a shame.
bub2006 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I'm curious now as being an auto is better for town work.
castros_bro Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 If you promise to take it then it's gratis/free/zero wonga. The parking/house sale means it has to go Friday THIS WEEK at the latest. Tyres are good.
bub2006 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I'll ring insurance in morning and find how much it will be then go from there if that's OK with you?
castros_bro Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Yes, where are you? This nice Renault needs some work to be acceptable in polite society so either accept my assessment or you need to look at it as my standards may not be the same as your standards.
bub2006 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I have no standards.if it can be made to run OK,go And stop with scrapyard parts that's fine! I'm in derby.
bub2006 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I do a fair few miles and want to stop running xantia constantly. Auto is an added bonus.
Sigmund Fraud Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Crikey, a road legal* car with only 66K miles for free ? It NEEDS to be saved ! eddyramrod 1
bub2006 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Hopefully it will be. Insurance first then logistics Sigmund Fraud 1
bub2006 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 No go I'm afraid. Insurance company wont add second car and new policy double the cost of xantia plus road tax per month seems it is an unviable option. Fucksticks. Sorry chaps
smellypoo Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 That would be a lovely little runaround. I'm only in Epsom so sorely tempted (Mrs SP might even be talked around if I tell her it's free and put it in the freshly emptied garage out-of-sight of the neighbours), could easily bang on another headlight and straighten* the bent bits - just checked the insurance though and the cheapest I can get it to is £269, but that's applying a 13yr no claims that I understand that I'm technically not supposed to (already being used on another policy). Any ideas on shite-friendly insurers? P.S. I know I'm being tight, it's just that it's more on insurance than a 3.0 Z4 so somehow it's being classed as a higher risk! I must have a mental block when it comes to these things...
castros_bro Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 It already has another headlamp loitering within the bent space which is how I know the bonnet needs bending some more to clear it. Not sure why the insurance would be so high but I used old git SAGA in-sewer-ants who promise to beat any comparable quote, also tried to put The Pope on as a named driver but this failed as his "Holyness" title wasn't in the drop down menu. The battery and the radio are both good so you could just use it for listening to the Archers and not insure it. smellypoo and Sigmund Fraud 2
The Moog Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I will have it if I can find a way to get it up here. Have asked bucketeer if his courier services are available Or if anyone can store it for a week that would be great. I can replace missus moogs civic with it. eddyramrod 1
bub2006 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 It was coming over 1500 quid for me to insure it. Could it be a combo of large engine and small car? I don't know!
Richard Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 I will have it if I can find a way to get it up here. Have asked bucketeer if his courier services are available Or if anyone can store it for a week that would be great. I can replace missus moogs civic with it.Where is up here again?
The Moog Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Accrington. Bucketeer has agreed to deliver if we can sort logistics out. Last time a Moog, Bucketer Castro delivery happened it went perfectly* smellypoo, Richard and Sigmund Fraud 3
