Can someone explain the point?

Driving isn't that hard.

File self driving cars with automatic robot hoovers and dish washers.

As far as I can ascertain it is somewhat like the service economy..

1. Develop sommat no-one needs

2. Market like a muthafucka

3. ?????

4. PROFIT

incase you can't tell, I'm sitting in a fuckin office looking at excel, rather than doing something cool like building a road or a ship whilst the sun blazes down.

The problem with drioverless cars is they have not yet figured out how they are to prioritise passenger or pedestrian safety.

Lets say a driverless car is driving down a road when a child runs out in front of it. It can swerve to avoid the child but by doing so it will hit a tree and kill the passengers.

How do you program a car to make that decision?

As a driver you will make a choice, it may not be the right one but would you want to be in a car that would choose to kill you and your family over a pedestrian?

On the other hand would you want a load of cars on the road that would actively choose to kill your child if they ran onto the road to save the person in the car?

How do you give a car the moral decision over life and death?

It would usher in the childless parents era ?

Dish washers are an essential part of life (I'm bone idle) and if they invented an automatic robot hoover that coped with dog hair and with a suitably large capacity so it didn't need emptying every square foot then I expect I'd have one; instead I put the hoover around every week/month or so, when it looks really bad or when I'm expecting a vistor. I can see some advantages with a self-driving car, for certain people, who probably shouldn't be on the road anyway, but don't fancy one myself. I have been in a self-parking car and whilst it's a nice toy I couldn't trust it.
