hairymel Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Sunbeam S GLS S or GLS, probably a GLS no prizes yet - even the supplying dealer wasn't sure! there is also another intriguing bit of information here the address on the service book is possibly the address it was collected from (didn't have door number and google maps puts it somewhere within a couple of doors) and don't know the name of the previous owner it could be the mythical one lady owner car 11111!!!!!!!! or not all in all the brief poke about shows it to be remarkably sound considering. the sills (inner and outer) are rotten at both ends but the rear jacking/suspension mounts look ok the front jacking points are gone as to be expected and the d/s floor is not there at all after prodding, and this rot extends to the engine bay and chassis leg but hopefully will be repairable inner wing/bulkhead/outerwing junction is a big hole both sides rear and front lower corners of the body are rotten as expected top of boot floor is rotten but the wheel well still looks ok (still to stinky to touch!) sill tops and p/s inner sill have holes in I am expecting many horrors to surface once proper digging takes place but it could be much worse apart from some interesting repairs to the front wings and patches to the rear outer sills the whole car is remarkably unmolested (except of course corrosion/sunlight damage/ the passage of time) i am liking the paper labels on the exhaust and front struts, but not as much as the 'ziebarted from new' sticker on the tailgate Angrydicky, Sigmund Fraud, Dick Cheeseburger and 2 others 5
Captain Mainwaring Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 This is fucking mindblowing. How are you getting on with it?

Well done for saving it and glad you didn`t get pulled by the coppers on the way home. DeeJay Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 When I saw this pop to the top I was hoping for a pic of an MOT cert with no advisories

rob88h Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 I’ve sorted AutoShite into alphabetical thread order and I’m on a voyage of joy and discovery. This is the very first Thread that comes up and has left me on tenterhooks already. Three questions: 1). Did ELM 97T get any further? 2). What is this other legendary Sunbeam/Talbot restoration that’s being talked about and where can I read about it? 3). Did the recovery truck get a build thread? Please bear in mind that although 5 years have passed by un-noticed, now you’ve got someone who can’t sleep until they find out on your conscience.
Dick Cheeseburger Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Wow, I'd forgotten about this thread! I remember HairyMel's Sunbeam escapades originally from the blue - I reckon that must have been a decade ago now.
