A hairymel production.  I wonder what it could be!  I imagine the answer is just over the Horizon.

judging by the state of the house windows I would have run..... but this is Autoshite so expecting pez shot shortly...

You don't see many of these. Other than a bit of ELM disease it is a 'minter'. A couple of strips off gaffer tape from around that window and those wings could be fixed.

Did you bail out on it ?

obviously i investigated further

the vendor had been unable to open the bonnet, so checking it actually had an engine was my first point of inspection

I was going to say I would have bailed, but I wouldn't. Because I wouldn't blind buy any car, let alone a 1978 one. I'm crap at this Autoshite thing..... Much bigger balls than me.

inner wings look OK? Are they mouse or rat turds? My Merc had both.

house owner 'was' a bit of a horder by the looks of it.

don't know why you would want to fill your house up with lampshades, carrier bags and books

normal* people fill their houses with car parts - obviously that isn't a problem

also truck is banana therefore denzil shot needed

i had four or five crappy pics, mostly closeups of random bits of undersealed stuff, wormcasts and grass

thats not blind

there were no pictures of the bastard brambles intertwined in the grass however

didn't even notice the turds - the most interesting thing under the bonnet was the number of 'special chrysler' snail carcasses, which were also present in my sadly overcooked sunbeam project

moving round to the drivers compartment the wing bottoms are a bit frilly

and the door doesn't feel 'mercedes' solid

Without being too number plate rain-man-ish, wasn't the number plate of your original Sunbeam project ELM???T? If so, it's MEANT TO BE!

Posted

I think I remember seeing this one on the blue forum when the lad was asking how much it was worth. Iirc, the photos showed the nicer* parts, rather than the remaining 80% of the car...

I'd have written that £0.50p off and gone home personally.

'vendor' was middle man for his work collegue who had inherited the property apparently.

nice guy - he is planning to recycle useful bits of the minor, which is pretty far gone

to be fair his pictures were a bit random - my counterpoint is - how many people are shoving a load of money on a horse this weekend just because of a random jumble of letters?

my overdraft facility is several orders of magnitude bigger than that

after reading the local paper i attempted to access the boot area.

the catches were jammed so i climbed in the back, removed the parcel shelf and dissassembled the offending items

first impressions were not good
