I thought that, I compared it to pics of an Evo3 and unless it's an optical delusion then the Wira has a longer boot.

Maybe it's to make extra space for an LPG tank, which many of these have here.

I believe LPG/CNG/NGV/LNG in cars like this is very common in Malaysia. Protons seemed to make up the majority of cars on the road last time I visited. (It's their home market.)

In 1993, 74% of new cars sold there were Protons!

Evo in disguise eh? The early persona wira rally car was genuinely a Mitsubishi evolution III. Proton at that time never built the rally version. They did a deal with Mitsubishi for old evolution III's when Mitsubishi launched the evolution IV. I'd a mate donkeys years ago who rallied one when they were still reasonably fresh.

Mitsubishi Evo III proton wira along with evo VI and evo VII proton wira.

Only thing on them that's made by proton are the badges!

I've always fancied a late 90's/early 2000's Proton, no idea how or why.  :?

Whenever one turns up at the local auctions I'd always back out or have a moment of realization and stop myself from bidding.

The closest I ever got was last year when a Persona Coupe came up for sale...sadly when I talked myself into wanting needing it, it'd been sold.

I've a W plate Satira here for much cheapness, it's 'orrible but seems to run OK.
