Guest pdonnelly57 Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Hello,It's wonderful how one stumbles upon things after the events. Would it be possible to know whether your friend ever sold this Ford Cargo. I wouldbe been interested if it's still possible to be so. Many thanks
Pillock Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 I'd imagine so, it was posted two years ago, but welcome to the forum anyway Cavcraft and chaseracer 2
83C Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Ford Cargos are the best 7.5 tonners of all time ever; I'd assume by that age it'd be a 6-pot Cummins 130bhp mill. I sadly have no money and the wrong license or else I'd be all over that Same here. I really fancy a nice 7.5t wagon to go with the bus, plus it'd be useful. But the cost of getting the licence is the biggest problem...
Timewaster Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Is the forum inhabited by children? I got 7.5t on my car licence and I'm not old. At all. Am I? Oh wait... It was 28 years ago! How did that happen? DSdriver 1
Tamworthbay Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 And me! Took my test 29 years ago, where did it go? Only used the 7.5t allowance once when we moved house. They do feel big but no problem as long as you have a brain, but looking at driving standards these days perhaps that’s the problem.
83C Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Missed having 7.5t and big trailer by 4 years - I'm still pondering the fact that I have had my licence now for exactly half the amount of time I've been alive I want at least my rigid licence because then I'll have the full deck of cards - categories A, B, C & D. I've no intention of going wagon or bus driving full time for a living again, but I'd like very much to be able to drive whatever I want. There's also the small matter of a Scammell Crusader ex-army artic unit that I know to that has only done 5,000km since new. It needs recommissioning and repainting, and thats it. Having driven a Crusader EKA recovery truck, I've got the bug for something similar....
DodgeRover Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 I'm pretty sure I have 10.5t on my car licence or the appropriate endorsement. You had to write to the DVLA at the time they were changing the class's to gain grandfather rights to the higher weight if you were using it at the time. I think I was feeling militant at the time and thought it might be handy at the farm.

Cavcraft Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Plus: I've got it without having to do a separate test. Minus: The first sodding job I used it for had a fleet of Ivecos. 83C, Dave_Q and Lacquer Peel 3
Timewaster Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Work paid for me to do class C (but not +e). Only ever driven Ivecos. Feel a bit cheated tbh. Cavcraft 1
