Are the squaddies still banned from calling the locals 'Bennies'? (As in Benny from Crossroads - dopey with a woolly hat).

 

yep, so now they call them 'Stills' (still look like Benny)!  or at least they did when i was lat there.  some time ago now!

My mate in Sale does web hosting and he was flown out to the Falklands to sort out a client's servers there. 

He liked it; then again, he's from Sale.

I had forgotten about my oppo telling me about calling them stills, also said they were called Fubs, for fucking bennies. She also calls the TA stabs for stupid TA bastards and called recruits crows but I can't remember why on that one. I know the CO got a bit funny about it but she told him it stood for combat recruits of war and he was OK after that. And also said the joke was SWAT stood for some weekends and Tuesday's which made me laugh.

There has been a lot of interest in the buses there, especially the older ones used in the airport construction - an incredible task itself.  If anyone has any pictures?
