Proper air filter for hs6 su

My Landy 90 has got an su upgrade and runs very well but it has a horrible little k+n filter which I dislike greatly . It's noisy and will be useless if I drive in deep water .

What I'm looking for is a normal paper type filter housing to fit this carb . I'm not sure if a maestro or similar may work . It needs to be reasonably small as there isn't a huge amount of room before it hits the bonnet but I'm not averse to a bit of modification if reqd.

Actually thinking about it a marina may be a better choice age wise .

Cheers in advance for your knowledge in old AR shite

Either really . Don't know what cars had that that carb to be able to do a search on eBay etc .

It's an 87 pre defender 90 with a 2.5 petrol motor . The carb is part of an acr conversion

Possibly - this maybe what the original carb had . Anyone know of a suitable adaptor to connect pipe to the su ?

Anything that fits.

Measure the intake on the carb, get a section of pipe with that as the internal diameter, and suitably sized jubilee clips. Bodge on!

Local motor factors would probably have solid pipes of various sizes / angles, usually for exhausts.

Silicone pipes may be a goer too, but may look a bit too modern in a Landy's engine bay!

Yeh I'm trying to keep it reasonably original looking . A small round oem filter housing would be lovely . Not a fan of bodges I'm afraid

Not a fan of bodges

...but drives an old Land Rover. :D

Naaah, I know how it is. The one my dad is restoring at the moment is being done properly as opposed to the SIII farm workhorse we had a few years back, which just got random bits that sort of fitted thrown at it haphazardly.

Actually it appears that a princess or maxi may have an hs6 carb .

Any chance of a pic vulgalour ?

Maxi has a big pancake at the rear, the intake stub I think can be rotated, so it's not at 6 o'clock taking in air next to the exhaust manifold.

Hi, I think Maestros and montegos have an aliminium housing that bolts onto the carb, and then there is some trunking goes off to a barrel shaped plastic filter container which are fitted to the same cars plus the six pot SD1s and Sherpa,s. ISTR the filter will either fit straight onto the said housing or shorten the trunking as required. The carb fitted on those cars are HIF6 but they have the same bolt pattern. Mind you where you would get them nowadays I couldn't say.
