Rover 45 welding

Recommended Posts

Hi , my 115,000 mile Rover 45 needs some attention behind the front wheel arch area. I know this is a common rust trap on the HHR . Question is , does this look fixable? I'm in the Leicester area and I'm looking for a trustworthy place to take it . I need to inspect the other side to see if it is the same.

Fixable. You just really have to have a good look to where the good metal is.

Certainly doesn't look too bad. It might be worth taking some of the underseal and sealant before taking it somewhere so they can get a better idea of the job at hand.

Have you checked down the rest of the sills whilst there?

Only they tend to keep going....

Thanks for the replies . The rest of the sill appears to be fine . The 45 doesn't seem to rust on the rear arches like the 400 does.

How much does this sort of thing cost to repair?

Thank you to Al Bundy of this parish for repairing my 45. I'm really impressed with the neatness of the job , friendliness and his professionalism .

Wayne can be contacted via his website www.classicmobilewelding.co.uk or by mobile 0779 2202450  . He's located in Leicester - I would highly recommend him if you are need of some welding .

Even with blurovision that's a handsome line along the bottom.  Nice job.

You can certainly see the quality of the welding in that second picture.

I've got a few more jobs to do over the Easter break including servicing the rear brakes/handbrake and replacing centre and rear silencer.

I should be at Pride of Longbridge again in a couple weeks .
