I'm actually running one of those poor sad faced things as it wouldn't sell.

Full service history and nearly mint but nobody wanted it. Took it in p/x and tried to sell but I wasn't prepared to flog it cheap to someone who was going to kill it after a few months, be a shame after years of care.

Drives really well and quite fun down the lanes. Crap on fuel though, 39 mpg at very best but usually 35

My brake lights seem to stick. Switch?

had one of these for about a month; belonged to my cousin, who wanted it NCT tested, n sold before she went away travelling the world.. I was instructed to 'do the welding' it needed for NCT (both sills n exhaust in similar condition to your one), and replace the rear top mounts, which it had failed on 1st time round in a test centre in Cork...

there was no money in it for me, naturally enough, bar the parts... I had a right battle to lap weld on a rough outer patch on the sills, and cut up various bits of old scrap exhaust to weld that back up...

I did buy the rear top mounts, but 'forgot'/couldn't be bothered to fit them, and actually left them in their boxes in the boot 'in full view' during the test; passed no probs with the allegedly 'wanked ones' stil on ... n the brake lights constantly on, throughout the test, as the testers seemed involved in heated argument, n oblivious to the tail lamps stuck on... RESULT!!

That's a lot of trouble to go to when €50 in the ashtray would have sufficed.  :-P

One other tip Bub - careful of the spark plugs. If this is an Endura engine the plugs can seize in the head. Leading to snapped plugs and mucho frustration with easy-outs (was anything else so wrongly named? Maybe "it might work but let's be honest you've fucked that right up you nob" wouldn't fit on the box).

If you are planning to change the Sparks, get a lot of plus gas on them in advance and use lots of copper grease on the replacements!

these sour faced Uncle Festers are actually great little cars. Fun to drive, cheap to run and cheap to fix. Scrap prices being dire is a great thing if it saves some little bargains like this from the crusher.

I love it now scrap is worth nothing. The dry cardboard we generate at work gets £60 a ton at the dump....Yes cardboard is woth more than cars!

Been to have a look at a Fiat Cinq SX '95, couple of owners 40 something thousand miles, runs and drives fine, nice met' blue paint. They want £195 for it, but I guess would take £100. But what to do with it after? Will just end up in the garden not getting used...

I think these fiestas are falling into shite territory now. 10 years back I had a c plate festa with beige paint brown interior and lots of rust. No one wanted them. Prices going up now. Mk3 fiesta prices are on the rise too. Who knows, maybe this shape will follow suit in time.
