KruJoe Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I had a back wheel lock up ont' Sporting* the week before we left the country for winter. I ordered fresh shoes for it, for me to fix it on our return. I guessed the lining had come off a shoe and jammed in the drum. This afternoon, it started up sweetly after three months off, and dragged its arse into the bay. First issue: locking wheel bolts. I found an 11/16" to sacrifice, and hammered the smaller socket over the problem. Easy. But I've nowt to fit. Anyone have any normal bolts like this spare? (The car has alloys.) I was expecting the stuck drum to put up a proper fight, but the HBOL suggested this trick of screwing in a pair of bolts to "press off" the drum. The bolts to use are not the M8 of the drum securing bolts threaded into the hub, but one size larger holes in the drum (M9 or M10) which the securing bolts pass through. I've not used that trick before, and I like it. Piece of piss. As expected: I chipped the material out and the drums looked horrid inside, but cleaned up really nice with a flapper disk. I grabbed the first shoe to pop in, and it didn't meet the "rest" at the bottom of the backing plate. FFS, I have the wrong bloody shoes. They were listed as fitting this, and loads of other Fiats, Lancias,Autobianci etc. The new ones have a 15mm shorter tail beyond the friction material, so don't meet the rest. So I've re-ordered, as these were bought months back. Can anyone use them, or want them for stock? Free at Crail/Shitefest/Malhamdale. Or pay me some postage, or swap for four normal wheel bolts. I noticed there's three left hand ones, and one right, but you can swap it with use of circlip pliers. I just noticed that perhaps the radius of these new ones are a touch less, to fit inside a smaller drum. Maybe. Below are pics of the ancient box the parts came in, included in the deal Fiat 126 parts? TL;DR - Offered: brake shoes. Wanted: wheel bolts. Lacquer Peel 1
The Moog Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Would pug ones fit? 12 x 1.25? They look exactly the same. Also tapered for alloys. Pic Can bring them to crail if you are attending? EDIT: internet says yes - http://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento/104954-wheel-stud-sizes.html KruJoe 1

KruJoe Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Ooh, thank you both!We must have some spare Pug ones around here, I'll have a look tomorrow, and report back, I didn't even think they might match. The Fiat thread looks quite fine though.
nigel bickle Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Fiat are 12x 1.5, so the Peugeot threads are wrong, sadly.
