Ford XR3i cabriolet , B reg, blue, 64k, in my local salvage yard. It's a Cat C, no keys and steering column damage so I assume its a stolen recovered.

I might be able to have a look at it next week if anyone is interested.

They also have a L reg Nissan Patrol 5dr, 4 litre, not salvage but just bought in with no MoT etc. They want £500 for it though! I have seen it and it appears to be in good order but I haven't heard the engine run.

I notice that the 3i has a bit of front end damage by the spoilerNo keys? Could be a bit of a ballache as it looks like its got a push in key type immobiliser fitted to the dash.

Yes , I assume that is where it will end up. They have a W124 Mercedes 260 Auto, no damage but no Mot and they want £400 for it! . GR8 FOR LAZY NIGERIAN TAXI DRIVERS. No Mot's needed in Africa, I assume.

Is that actually an XR3i? Looks like a standard convertible, I'm probably wrong though. Also, why blank out/remove the plates and then put the reg in the listing?!

I don't think you could get a XR3i cabrio on the mark 3 shape? It was just an injection, or the Ghia trim...

I just assumed it was an XR3 due to the wheels to be honest, I'm not really into Mk3 Escorts :) !

Yeh, it was just called the 1.6i cabrio I think (and the ghia)

There were two different specs, the Ghia was introduced first and then followed by the 1.6i model which just has less electric nicies and no wood bits - it was meant to be sporty in a 'less is more' way where the Ghia was some weird luxury thing without a roof. Same engine though, which is good since the 1.4 cabrios were slow as anything! They then dropped the Ghia, leaving just hte 1.6i model in mk3 form, before borrowing the XR3i trim when it became a Mk4.

Judging by the metal box thing lying in the footwell, it looks like whoever nicked the car has already rewired it backwards

Popped in and looked at this car yesterday. The bodywork is in very good condition, bar a big dent in the drivers door. The front valance is also damaged but very savable. It has no rust at all - which is amazing for a 23 year old Escort. The hood and rear screen are good. The steering cowl/lock mechanism is all completely buggered, and due to the bonnet release being part of the steering wheel cowl, I was not able to look under the bonnet. There is evidence of an aftermarket electronic immobiliser having been fitted and then smashed up. The car has pale blue leather seats (unless they're vinyl :D ) and someone has 'retrimmed' the dash with some sort of cheap imitation leather - a really horrible job  .The EXPORTASTIC Patrol has been sold, and the MK3 Escort van Fred T mentioned was an ELV and is no longer there - presumed crushed.OJC fans, There was a clean G reg Honda Prelude 2.0 (ELV written on the screen :( ) in the yard, all parts bar the wheels are there to be taken. The black interior was in very good nick, as were all panels except the ends of the sills.

Is it wrong that I still want a mk.4 XR3i hardtop?

Really sorry to hear about the van, I would have had that.
