Dervs and emissions tests

my 607 is on the rev limit several times every day so it doesn't bother me

Surely an engine and gearbox is designed to be able to run under no load at max rpm as its possible to create those conditions over the period of a minute or longer on the motorway when the car teeters on the point of over run descending long shallow inclines ,imo the mot test would only be a cause for concern for timing belt roulete engines and fucked but still runners

Blue smoke when held at full chat, no load? That may be the piston rings not behaving as they're designed to.

If it only does it once a year for 3 minutes then I don't mind! It was ever so faint, on the 3rd flooring. Rest of the time it occasionally chugs out the normal xud-ness it does if I haven't driven above 2k revs for a few days.

Passed well within the specs, last year it barely scraped through and all I've done is 2 oil changes and a new exhaust, so it must have been the exhaust!

the 1st mot for my 106 1.4d had a printout showing the test

they managed a maximun engine speed of 6600 which is 1100 OVER manufacturers specs!!

Either your pump had been played with or the rpm pickup on the smoke tester wasn't working correctly

I'd go for the latter. The RPM pickup on our smoke meter has a vague guess at revs based on alternator output. I don't think it's ever got it right.
