Shite Caravanning [telly]

Anyone else watch the (to normal folk) incredibly dull documentary on caravans on BBC4 tonight?

I thought it was fascinating and truly excellent for period shite-spotting.

At one point I found myself physically making excited noises upon seeing a Super Minx wagon tugging a green holiday box.

Joyfold.

opened thread, clicked link and sat here watching for the last hour. Fascinating. "nuff respec" to the lady who was widowed young in teh early sixties and carried on, taking her young kids around Europe on her own in her Land Rover.

Top Kwolity. I love caravans and camping me. Been clogging the nations roads myself since 1872! Here is one of my old outfits (that doubled up as honeymoon hotel as we had just spent my money on a new boiler)

That old 320 is giving me the horn. Check the chrome mirrors! Awesome outfit indeed.

Yes indeedy, 320 carbed bimmer with slushbox and glovebox full of water. Cost £250 with 12 months MOT, caravan cost £100 - sold the bimmer 6 months into its ownership for £250. Star car it was. Looked even better when I sorted out the big dint in the bonnet with some isopon and a rattle can.

Agreed, I'd happily traipse round in that combo. Stylish.

Is that van an Elddis? It looks the spit of an Elddis Cyclone me folks used to take us away in. Dad lugged it behind a SD1 2.6 vandenplarse, then a 760 wagon.

Van is a 1970 Eldis Whirlwind 2 berth - somewhere I have some photos of the inside (with boilah)
