Mercedes A class what could possibly go right..

Before anyone comments this car is not for me so I just want to set the record straight lol...

 

A friend of mine wants a sub £700 Mercedes A class which is reliable and in good nick if there's such a thing which has to be in a 50 mile radius of East Sussex and it seems for the money anything that looks good doesn't go from A to B.

 

We've narrowed our search down to a 1.4 for cheap tax for her and decided a Spanish waiter would be a better option if she wants a working gearbox..

 

I just wondered if there's anything we should look for or are all A class Renault Lagunaerd

Surely the only sensible Mercedes for that money would be a leggy 190?

I'd imagine sub £700 it would have something terminal up with it. You might drop on though you never know

It's not a particularly easy car for DIY maintenance either.
