Mk3 Mondeo TDCi 130 with tow bar WTD

The HG has gone on my mates faithful 130 Ghia X tow car, so he is looking for another mk3 with the same motor, to take over duties for a while, and eventually donate its heart to Hercules.

Cosmetic condition and spec are not important. Nor is body style, but a healthy motor with service history and mileage around 80K, and a tow bar, are.

There's plenty of cars to be carted 'round, in the near future.

He is based in Somerset, but that's not a deal breaker.

Knocking DMF's welcome!

Chances of finding a 12 year old diesel with 80k on the clock are slim. 180k more like. The higher mileage maybe better, might have had new clutch/injectors etc

His has had injectors and a clutch/DMF, so all of this will swap over.

I know what you mean about the mileage, but they are out there.

The injectors iirc are programmed, not sure if they will work in a different unit. If he's doing all that wouldn't it be easier to mend the HG?

His mate is a Ford tech, and can handle all of the coding etc.

He says doing the HG is no problem, but he would prefer to swap the lump.

**Up to 120K is actually acceptable**

A potential car has been found. In the shape of a pre-facelift Ghia X estate.

If he gets sorted, I will bin this thread.

Cheers.

I'd buy another and mend the HG on the one he has, then sell the temporary one.

Otherwise you'll end up with a spares / scrap car

I've found the Mondeo TDCI breaks very well, dependent on the cat code they can be up to £200 scrap , known good injectors £100 a set , alloys £100 decent used DMF + clutch £100, decent fuel pump £80, Sony CD £75   and it goes on ........... Whichever way he does it he'll cover his costs

Most specific wanted advert ever

Gotta be thorough! I could have said facelift Ghia X only

MUST BE WITHIN 5 MILE RADIUS MUST BE UNDER £500 QUID POUNDS :-)

I forgot to say, the current engine isn't the original, it is an item of unknown history, thanks to the car previously playing submarine.

Hence the reluctance to do the HG on it.

Agreed on the breaking value.

As for being left with a spares car, he would just remove the big bits and then scrap it, if need be.

Or keep the spares he knows he will need for the working car and bin the rest...
