It's a proper MPV inside: seats on rails. (They also fold flat to make a double bed - winner).

Japanese import means that you need to shop hard for insurance, best to leave it to a specialist. Costs me £350 with 1 years NCB (I have 10 years tied up on my main car).

Damn you - you've sent me on a journey through eBay looking at Japanese imports, previas, Nissan Elgrands etc.....these are all great!

My Ktm is 52 inches when stood upright , holding its own weight

Sounds like a line from a tacky yank porn movie.....

Soz for repeating myself, but before you buy a Caddy, try the Kangoo. The seats fold down much better than the Berlingo, I could get two extra large (26" wheeled) mountain bikes stood up in mine with wheels attached and still lots of room. The only thing that puts me off getting another is that it'd have to be petrol as the diesel ones have a grim rep and on that score the Citroen is much better.

I'm a strictly diesel man for the daily so no 1.5dci hand grenades ta.

What I'm after is the extra load area - the caddy is LWB and a bit higher so should have similar space to the Berlingo with the seats down, with the 5 seats up.

We do camping holidays and the Berlingo (with a large roofbox) was a bit borderline for space this year, and the children are only going to keep growing and want to bring more shite with them in future.

It's all academic for now as I won't be changing for a while yet - the cheapest Caddy lifes are about 4-5k at the moment, they need to get down to about 1.5-2k to get on my radar.

Going back to the insurance point - for my Delica I used Life Sure (specialise in Japanese imports). I found them very reasonable so used them for my Saxo (now Justy) too. If you do go for a grey import they might be worth a try.

Voyager has just under 56 inches of access height wise.

That's all well and good but I'll stick to my Ducato I think 😄 The problem with loading bikes is that pushing up the angled ramp makes them even taller and more awkward to load

I think that's wrong, there's certainly a grey area with small vans.

That article is more than ten years old and they still haven't sorted it out. Wankers. All they have to do is issue a statement confirming whether the whole body or just the front end has to be shared with a car and which side of the fence small vans like the Berlingo and Connect fall on. Maybe even a database of what is or isn't considered to be a car derived van.

It's not acceptable for them to say you have to go by what's on the V5, a large proportion of people driving small vans don't have access to the V5.

Here's another article from Fleet News that tries to clarify things, it says the cut off is 2t GVW but I can't find anything official to back it up.
