Wednesday morning I backed out of my drive into a 02 Fiesta on other side of road-excuse was i was watching neighbours kids milling about. So checked for damage and could see nowt - was literally doing 1mph into his front nearside bumper. Was late for work so got mrs to see whos car it was - neighbours a few doors away daughters boyfriend it turned out. He looked and agreed no damage. So today get phone call from him to say the car has today failed its mot on broken headlamp and I am paying!! I say I want to see it but the mot garage is about 40 miles away and the repair has already been done.If I have caused it I don't mind paying but is this fishy?

If he agreed there was no damaged, then he can get bent!

His word against yours really. Had this happened to me I'd have grabbed the camera to get some pics for the record.

It might be that one of the mounting lugs got broken and it wasn't apparent until the MOT.

That sounds pretty likely to be honest, headlight brackets are pretty fragile and generally the lights look ok until they are checked

Ask to see receipts for the work done, get the number of the MOT station, and give them a call.

pay up, but then draw a cock and balls on his lawn in weedkiller.

Just back from B & Q with a litre of "Weedol"

He looked and agreed no damage.

If he was happy to say there was no damage then, then why try and make a bogus claim later?? Obviously don't know the guy but I'd say it sounds fairly possible......they are pretty fragile.....

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. These things are very fragile!
