Renner Megane cabrio - B0rked elec window

This belongs to a chap at work, bought as a donor for his other megane cabrio for a derisory sum, it has one major issue (as well as myriad minor issues) in that the driver elec window will go down, but not up.

I've tried swapping the switches over, exactly the same behaviour - will go down but not back up.

As a temporary bodge we took the door card off, detached the motor, pulled the window up and wedged a bit of rubbery trim between the window and door frame to hold it in place. Stage 2 of this charade will be to shove a length of 2x4 into the door to stop it dropping down as I have visions of the wedge currently employed failing, the glass falling down inside the door suddenly and smashing into a billion pieces, making us worse off than when we started.

can anyone suggest why it might not want to go skywards? its getting power, and the passenger side one will go up and down happily.

Obviously access is terrible but I'd like to implement a fix sooner rather than later before the weather gets crap and the wedge fix ceases to work properly.

This doesn't need to be a long-term solution, just need to keep the elements out while we strip the donor for all useful parts then its getting fragged.

IIRC these have a window control module in the door that fails all the time, it's got a relay in it and they also get full of water. £15 for a new "compatable" replacement off ebay

Temic was what I was looking for. It won't go up because it is fooked or it thinks there is an invisible childs hand in the way and doesnae want to chop it off.

Thanks Eddie! explains why its bad tempered and I think we'll just wedge the runner thing up with some wood for now. It shouldn't slip but will be a right PITA if it does and the glass breaks because the interior is in good shape and was the main reason the donor was bought, ideally we don't want the elements getting at it if we can avoid it.

The car is basically immobile (it could be pushed I suspect, but won't move under its own steam) so its just going to be a case of stripping it then bridging it.
