Alternating between using my car and my old mans at the moment because he's away on holiday, and noticed a really odd/annoying issue earlier.

First the specifics, its a 2009 VW Jetta 2.0 CR TDi Sport 140bhp DPF, its a taxi and has done 123,000 miles, a few months ago something went wrong with the interior heater fan and it only worked on speed 4. 1, 2, 3 didn't do anything, anyway my dad got his mechanic mate to fix it recently so it now works on all speeds again, however if you are driving the car and turn the steering wheel even slightly to the right the heater squeals like a bitch from somewhere, it doesn't do it when driving straight on or with the wheel turned to the left, I know its definitely to do with the heater because I'd you turn it to speed 0 I.E. off, it stops doing it. Also it seems to be fine until the car has been running with the heater on for a while, it was fine for the first 20mins I was driving it earlier then the rest of the journey each and every time I turned the wheel even slightly to the right it squealed continually until I straightened the wheel again.

I suspect it may be something to do with the exhaust emissions.

There is a pig and an old etonian built into the centre console, moving to the right makes the pig panic.

Prob a dead or dying motor changing note due to battery voltage changing as the electronic pas draws current

Loose heater box on bulkhead moving when the steering rack moves, allowing the fan to catch?

On these turning the wheel to the left will make the heater fan go onto it's test cycle.

When operating in this mode the heater fan will run more quietly to reduce the drive by noise level as required by EU Directive CH34t

Well you did rather fall into a trap...

Surely if that was the case it would do the same when the steering wheel was turned to the left as well.

LOL at some of these replies BTW, predictable if nothing else.

If it's your old mans car don't worry about it , s'not your problem , he can fix it when he comes home from holiday  :-P . Syphon the diesel out of it , he 'll never remember how much was in it .

And talking of syphoning... I bought 25 litres of cellulose  thinners, and i syphoned a bit out , and  got a gob full . Fook!  it's 10 times worse than petrol..
