Classic weekend at Shelsley Walsh 18th July

Just realised that this do is on and I'm planning to head over on Saturday 18th July, would welcome any fellow shiters for a meeting.

Shelsley Walsh is easy to get to, about 20mins from junction 5 of the M5

Entry on the day is £15, the place is well worth the trip with open pits and good viewing points all the way up the hill

I've always found drivers and mechanics happy to have a chat about their cars, it's very relaxed

Food and drink is the usual burger van stuff but not OTT on the price from when I have been before

An easy meeting point is the Robin Hood Pub at https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.2846054,-2.1234237,359m/data=!3m1!1e3

Some of the blurb:

This annual event supported by Classic and Sports Car and Peter James Insurance attracts a very wide range of classic cars, not just competing on the hill but also on display.

The weekend consists of two one day National B events for pre-1980 cars. On each day, practice is in the morning, where all competitors are offered two practice runs. The competitive runs take place in the afternoon, with each driver having two runs.

Each day starts at about 9.15am with competitive runs starting from about 2.00pm and the event finishing around 5.30pm, dependent on the conduct of the event.

Classic Nostalgia makes a welcome return to the Midland Automobile Club's Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb on the 18-19 July 2015. This annual event is rapidly becoming a firm favourite on the racing calendar and is kindly supported by Classic and Sports Car magazine and Peter James and Stewart Miller Insurance. The action-packed weekend always attracts a very a wide variety of pre 1980s competition cars competing on the historic hill climb course, plus features spectacular static vehicle displays, trade stands, vintage-inspired entertainment, musicians, live bands and show dancers.

On the Saturday Classic Nostalgia will play host to Triumph, as they hold their annual Standard Triumph Marque Day on site, with over 15 marque clubs represented and approximately 500 pre-1984 vehicles on display. Other visiting car clubs already confirmed include the Club Marcos, Jaguar XK Enthusiasts, Jaguar XJS Club, Club Alpine Renault, Bristol Owners Club, Sporting Bears, Ginetta Owners Club, MG Midget & Sprite Club and Dellow Register.

AS MIDLANDS MASSIV SUMMER MEET IS ON!  :D

Sounds pretty good to me with the added bonus for Shiters of not needing to change to go in period dress. Have a short video of last year's event to get a flavour of what to expect:

I won't be able to make it, but I was at the Vintage event on Sunday. Different atmosphere with nothing post-war on the track or in the reserved car park, but the racing was spectacular, especially when it started again after a violent thunderstorm. A flavour of the day, the last car was a1905 Fiat Land Speed Record car with 16,500cc Isotta Fraschina airship engine :o
