From Salford too.... Dunno, I bought a 530 v8 bmw about 6 years ago for £400 that had been in a ditch on it's side, every n/s panel scrap. Bought it blind , train up and drove it back. Massive bucket of wob, job done.

 

 

Was it a metallic red M reg 530i V8 manual? Slightly bent rear trailing arm as well?

XJ8's are bangers now. They have problems but:

 

-If it looks okay

-Sounds okay

-Drives okay

 

Hand over the £650 (plenty) and drive it until it shits itself, the floor falls out or it fails the MOT. Then break it, weigh the shell in and get your six and a half back.

I'm pretty sure I sold a pair of shoelaces to 'bollockchop', which resulted in a short but hilarious conversation through eBay messages. I can wholeheartedly recommend this jaguar based on this.

No mention of pre 2000 nicasil issues?? Gearboxes goin bang after 150k??

The nicasil thing was due to the fuel of the late 90s/2000s I believe. If it has survived this long it's fine!

The wings and wheel arches rust well, the lacquer comes off on the mirrors/roof/boot lid

 

The rear hub swivel bearings are often bollocksed

 

If yours clonks when you pull away it might be as bad as mine were
