A Night (of Shite) at the Opera

Opera , but not perhaps as you know (or imagine it) Tonight we went to see Carmen via a live satellite link from London to our local cinema. All rousing stuff but a surprise bonus was the entrance stage right of an early, battered, W123 280E in a fetching shade of Autoshite Metallic Beige :)

After the interval things got even better. No less than five more W123s in assorted colours joined it, including this:

I never knew that they produced a cabriolet, but it looked a factory job?

Crayford Auto Developments made a drop-top W123, which was known as the St. Tropez. The car in the production was most likely one of them:

I'm going to see Carmen at the ROH in the autumn. The production probably won't feature any cars, which is a pity.

Director has made a schoolboy error there. He/she has taken the stage direction "a topless Mercedes enters stage left" literally. (Mercedes is the name of Carmen's sidekick and fellow floosie in the opera).

Judging by the state of the front valance and gaffer tape repair to the wheelarch,it's more likely a hacksaw job for the production. Camera angles and cast helping to mask the lack of hood or extra doors etc.
