Stanky Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Following the upgrade to the ex-Vantman Saab 9-3, I'm now looking to move the Almera on to pastures new. Its advertised on a few places so thought I'd try and punt it on here too. So, it is a 1996 P-reg Nissan Almera GX 1.4 litre, 5-door, manual. Its done 139,800 miles and has just been SORN'd. Tax is cheap* at £75 for 6 months and about £140 for 12 months. It has MOT to November 2015 and various bits of service history. It has several service invoices up to 2001, then not a lot until my ownership commenced in 2011. I have serviced it myself, and it has had various bits replaced including the exhaust from the downpipe back including cat. I have invoices for everything done during my ownership. It had a new pair of front pads for the last MOT and has 4 matching kumho tyres with about 4mm tread left all round. I estimate there should eb another 10-15k of driving left in them, they are only a year and a bit old so the rubber is still grippy. The car has been enormously reliable during my ownership, and maintenance is a piece of cake - there is loads of access for a FWD car. One entire sill has been replaced, the other has been plated at the back prior to my ownership and seems to be in OK shape. All other panels are rust-free. It has returned 44.4 mpg over 50,000 miles of mixed driving, so is very thrifty. Cheap to insure too, so great first car. Have some pictures: The car is located in Fareham, Hampshire and I'm after about £400 for it. Its advertised for more elsewhere, but I;d rather not deal with the great unwashed so AS discount applies. Partridge 1
BorniteIdentity Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 These are top banana. I inherited my Granddad's (a prolific paralympian in the 'touch parking' discipline) and I'm buggered if I could break it. Ran it with the same oil for approximately 40,000 miles - washed it twice (I can hear him tutting now) and generally abused it with two children. I even bought alloy wheels off of ebay for £50 to avoid buying new tyres. Power steering was 'fixed' with some rancid product with WELD in the name, and it's still going 4 years later. The only thing I would say is, at 6'1, I found the captains chair would have been nicer if it'd go back one more click. So I took my shoes off. Nailed it. GLWS. Stanky and eddyramrod 2
Stanky Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Oh yeah forgot to say - the front seats have been replaced due in part to what Bornite says. I'm 6' and found that the regular seats meant my head was jammed up against the roof, coupled with the terminal wear to the driver seat squab and bolster I found a pair of 'sporty' seats from a GTI on ebay, these go up and down as well as back and forward and the squab is set about 3" lower than the regular seats so there is some headroom for the taller driver now. These can be put up to 'normal' height if desired. They also go right forward as they came out of a 3-door so have the tilt and slide action. BorniteIdentity 1
Jim Bell Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Cant think of anything negative to say about Almeras. Good cars. Looks canny too.
Negative Creep Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Cant think of anything negative to say about Almeras. Good cars. Looks canny too. Immobilisers pack up and turn the car into scrap. Mine had a fault that I "fixed" by taking the fuel pump fuse out for a few seconds before I started the car. That aside they are mega cheap to fix and run, as well as not being completely awful to drive
Stanky Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Sorry to mess y'all about. No longer force ale. Wife_Stanky has decided that her Kia has been so naughty that it, rather than the older, but altogether more reliable Nissan should be sent off to pastures new. Having had 3 wheel bearings, ongoing inlet problems and various other maladies in the past year - as well as on the face of it being worth more - it will be moved on and the Nissan will become the wife-mobile. I am happy, as I like the Nissan, it is more reliable, easier to work on and less of a chore on the motorway than the decidedly underpowered Kia. Anyone interested in a 'currently-behaving-but-not-likely-to-last-long' Kia Rio? No? Oh... Jim Bell 1
