Posted

Buy it and barn it Mr. Bol - them sports are rare beasts.

Posted

If its easy for you to find out, i'd be interested to know, dont go on a mega mission to scope it out though. I'd love a BX sport, some geezer at my work in France had one, sounded awesome when he was giving it the beanz.

Posted

next time im passing i'll have a gander it was for sale as its got a sales thingy hanging off the rear view mirror :D

Fantastic spots there and a facinating slice of history in Oradour sur Glane-I'd read about that place before, maybe I'll visit one day. Completely off topic but I went to Auschwitz, changed my outlook on life and realise that 'things/items' are very very rarely important.

Posted

yeah sad thing is now the weathers getting to it; sure more of it has collapsed since i was last there :?

Posted

Posted Image

The Doctors car in the square... a very humbling place, very, very still and quiet my wife found it a little unerving, even my (then very little) daughters were quiet. Definately worth a nose if your that way.

Posted

Great pics as always, Oradour is certainly on my list of places to visit in the future - souviens-toi indeed.

Posted

One of those places one feels one really should visit. But, has something been done to "preserve" the burned out cars? considering they've been sat there for 60 odd years, I'd have expected nothing much to be left except stuff like axles, engines and gear boxes plus a few bits of chassis and suspension parts.
Posted

Great spots. Also looks like an interesting it, as you pointed out, eerie place to visit. Definetly agree that it should be preserved as a reminder.

hard to decide the feeling i have for this place, a little heard rumour of a empty château off we went, upon getting home did a little more research and am truly devastated how it looked even 30 years ago..

this is along time ago...

then this was the 50's

and this was 1978

and sadly this is how it sits today, said to be totally unique build of château for this region

Posted

Nice chateau & more - would love to buy such a ruin and build a comfy house & barn inside, invisible from outside but preserving the chateau...

We went to Ourador-sur-Glane while on a visit to my brother some years back. It had been on my 'places to see' list since seeing it featured in World At War many moons ago. It was a very surreal experience and what made it more eerie was the way my brother's dog get getting spooked, his hackles were up like he had seen something. Spooky. That doctors car doesn't looked like its changed much since we were there.

Posted

Oradour is very interesting and definately somewhere I want to visit again. There are quite a few more cars in the village, few Citroen Tractions and such, the really moving thing is looking into the remains of the houses and seeing rusted remains of bed frames and sewing machine.Very sobering.

Posted

so there we are on my way home and just had to pop in for a gander at this place...

Posted Image

So whereabouts in France is this then? I could really do with that back door and rear bumper. Might be worth making a [very big] detour to acquire them :)
Posted

Hmmm, thats a good long way away :( Might be worth a detour on my way to Sud de la France in a couple of months but probably easier to find something where I'll actually be.
