My day off = repairs and bodgery

The cat arrived for my other half's Panda. Before fitting it, though, I took heed of the dire warning on the label:

 

 

Cause of failure was duly investigated

 

 

Verdict: OUR LASS.

 

Cat duly fitted, I then had to drive over to her work where she'd abandoned my 205 after it started leaking coolant (badly)   Closer inspection revealed that the metal pipe joining the two bottom hoses at the driver's side of the engine was rusted to fuck and had a really big hole in it. I did a professional repair on this, involving the use of chemical metal, tie wraps and, erm, gaffa tape

 

 

Amazingly this lasted the 20 or so miles it took to get home. Once safely back on the drive, I was marvelling at the fact that it wasn't leaking when suddenly...

 

 

Time to ring the Peugeot dealers then, but not before I've had a brew.

DONT get those bottom hoses from the dealer, you will get raped.

 

They can be had on ebay for £20ish !!

It's not the hoses, it's the metal bit that joins them together, number 5 on this diagram

I use standard copper pipe from a plumber's merchant to replace that on the 205s we've had. 28mm from memory, got an offcut several years ago for a beer and done 3 cars with it!
