head of shite day out - Darlington (LOTS OF PICS)

Recommended Posts

Posted

we had a run out over to Head of Steam in Darlington, and took plenty of piccies

our ride for today, i had wanted to take the Mini but the weather forecast wasn't that great, and the clutch on that is playing up, as there is at times no bite on it.

shame then, we'll have to use this instead, until i get the Mini's clutch replaced. Or more likely the Mini will stop in the garage till sometime next year.

Saltburn fire station used to have a dennis engine like one of these, cannot remember whether it was a RR powered one or Cummins though

Good stuff MM. 8)

Those last two pics prove that early seventies cars look shit with black and silver pressed plates. 0/10 for Hunter. 11/10 for Cortina.

IMO, anything after 1968 needs reflectives...THE LAW.

this was what i had hoped to take with this morning, but the clutch is playing silly buggers. it is horribly sharp with no progression at all, having driven aways with it, the action of the clutch gets better, though it is far from perfect. i can see me getting the whole lot changed, though i am hoping that a repair kit for the slave cylinder will put it right. typical as i have just spent good money on some coloured lamp lenses!!

and then i got a picture of 3 of the fleet out at the same time at the Temple of Doom...

all told though we had a really nice day out, we didn't get to actually see inside the museum itself, as we were having too much fun looking at old cars, plus the weather turned out much bettert han i had hoped it would, that bit of sun was nice though it wass till cold in that wind, at least it stayed dry!!

Great pictures, thanks.  We have a Bedford CF like the green flat bed one.. sadly in not quite as good condition!

Your Sportspack Mini looks to be mint!

A Landcrab, a Triumph 1300 and a Harlequin Polo - fantastic stuff!

What a top day out! Is this an annual do? If so I will keep an eye out for it next year.

i like that mini CF Supreme and the battleship grey P4, the heater controls/levers below the dash on that looked like it should have been controlling bits on a battle cruiser!

it is the first time that we have been to this show, but it is i think an annual event and i'm going to be keeping my eyes open for next years date for this show too. we will be hoping to go again.

Brilliant cars, thanks for posting the piccies.

I love the look of those Bedford Campers. Far better than VW Wankers   Campers.
