The fact the body tub is just a big rectangle means it suits the pickup look quite well!

I imagine it'd need a shit ton of bracing to stop the doors popping open on tight corners though...

That's got a proper look of an Aussie Ute about it. I think it's the back lights that do it.

Surprisingly, not at all terrible like most pickup conversions are.

Got a bit of a dilemma with the e28, I'm wanting to sell it and put money into fixing my other shite but I've been offered a complete e24 635 csi for it as a straight swap if I cover transport costs. Decisions decisions...

I've made a little bit more progress on the ute, Mrs Foad has been doing a bit of welding and marking out the panels for me to cut them. last bit of metalwork to go in is the bed.

What's the catch why do they want swap a complete 6 for a 5 with bits missing?

It's a non runner with frilly rear arches. They have a rotten e28 they want to reshell into mine.

Hopefully it'll be here by the end of the week. Perhaps Mr Bavarian Retro can shed some light on what's wrong with it seeing as it's been down to his place previously...

Water leaks through the bulk head and drops into the ecu in the glove box and frazzles it. This is what happened to my m535. I think it's quite a common fault . You get fuel pressure but no pulses to the injectors .

The ECU in the E24 is in a different place from the E28.

Which one is this, Scott? Did it previously live in Fife or Dundee?

Looks like the one from Fife? It ran well, but it was a bit ropey rust wise.

But the rotten E28 sounds like the Dundee one which needed an ECU IIRC.

I like the pickup. Did you you have to add in metal so make it stronger since you chopped the roof?

Pick up looks surprisingly good, impressive skillz.

E24s are fine looking cars and looks like they have ditched the metric wheels already.

A month ago I was offered a car that I'd previously owned for £300 but I didn't take it. Now that it's going for £120 I thought I might as well go for it. It's mot'd until next year too!

I like that pickup, but I also like that Volvo 240, awesome colour for it.

There's nothing worse than buying a car with no stereo and having to listen to all of the strange noises it makes on the journey home. I removed the headunit from the tata at the train station.

Is the Carlton the one the lad on RR did a banger challenge with? Tidy looking car, although not sure about the fake wood if it's one and the same!

It's the same one, I bought it a while ago for £250 with 6 months mot and tax then swapped it for a Toyota camry. I'm now purchasing at half the price I paid for it initially. The wood and stickers will be off today!

Sold this one already!

Actually it was never mine, I did the deal to swap the E28 for it but it I agreed to let forum member "Nisfan" have it for £400 if he also paid for transport costs. Yes it could be sold for more but I kinda said to the previous owner that I'd keep it and try and get it roadworthy so I would've felt a bit shitty punting it on ebay straight away and at least the car stays in the circle so to speak...

The Carlton is a bit more broken since I last had it, it crashed into a Corrado on the "rust to Rome" banger rally, it has some trim, grille bits and a headlight broken. The discs are warped and it has covered 10k miles.

The good news is it's had a new clutch, alternator, cam belt, water pump, serviced a couple of times and still feels decent to drive. We removed the stickers but still have some residue left from the fake wood vinyl to remove. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing with it but it seemed to make sense to buy it for £120...

This week I've mainly been driving this.

I love it, it's definitely a keeper! Just need a couple of things to complete it including a beige leather drivers seat and a rear "hockey stick"
