Anyone near Blyth who can look at a car?

Hello!

 

Are there any 'Shiters in that part of the world who might be able to go and have a look at this BX estate on behalf of my gaffer?

It looks all right, and the seller seems fairly honest, but lack of service history and the fact it's been standing around for a bit means it warrants a proper inspection before any committments are made, and it's about as far away as it's possible to get from here.

 

If anybody is nearby and wouldn't mind getting in touch with the bloke and having a look that would be very much appreciated. Some knowledge of hydropneumatic diesel Citroens probably helpful, but not essential

This thing is back and now half price and I have pretty much decided it will be coming to live in Sussex. Was gonna try and incorporate this into my mammoth collection mission tomorrow but it's a further three hour round trip on an already hellishly long journey.

 

Anyone able to offer assistance? A relay to Harrogate could be useful but it has no MoT now so would have to be done fairly quietly. Otherwise, anyone close-ish to it have off road storage where it could sit for a while?

It can come live with me for a while if you like, I can probably help sort the no MoT situation as well.

 

Edit - there is a man from Eastbourne coming on saturday to look at a cortina, I think he might be pursuaded to give someone a lift.

I can't do Brighton to 'up there' twice in one week man! Offer of space muchly appreciated. Would also make sense to get it MoT'd there and drive back legally...

I'll let you know how things go and have a definite answer on Friday if that's okay?

Do you want me to investigate 'understanding' MOT stations in the area?

Ideally I'd like somebody to go and have a look and check it's not totally rotten. If it's not, then the rest should be relatively easy. There is a very 'understanding' MoT place by my house but I don't want to pay for a car that's gonna be a massive FAIL when it gets here (especially if i have to drive it 300 miles or whatever with no test). Cheap BX is obviously cheap for a reason, but galloping rot would put me off.

I've just remembered I've been to Blyth for a BX before. It was about 1998 and I'd just rolled my 309 into a field and needed a car ASAP. The cheapest thing I could find in the yellow free paper was a beige mk1 1600 BX for £80 so I rode from Stanley to Blyth on a GP100 and then put the bike in the car to come home again.

 

It failed a MoT on serious structural corrosion about a fortnight later, but not before I'd been given a ticket for rotten door bottoms. Its last trip was to tyne tees auctions where I bought an audi 80.

That things been for sale for ages.... id help with viewing and have had a few bxs but not gonna be back up there until next weekend now
