Nice selection, that Rolls 'state is a real horror

I'd like to tow that Domino behind the Olds Cutlass and go to shows... great pics!

Incredible!! Wonder how often it gets used?

Fantastic selection Torsten! I particularly like the 'Lincoln' (which I reckon is an 83-86 Ford Thunderbird, fwooooar loverly) and the Olds Cutlass - hard to believe they were still making them in '93 after being introduced in '82, but that's the domestic Yanks for you. They were still making a Mk2-based Cav up until last year...Rolls wagon is tremendous, the Range Rover top 'almost' fits...And the Carlton too...mmm...could be a 2.2. Looks a bit farked if it's sitting that low, probably the strut mountings have rusted out (as usual)

Posted

That Domino will be getting a little note in about 15 minutes, I've been thinking of it all day, the mould around the wheels speaks volumes! The Rolls is badged "Safari" so possibly a legit conversion, looks amatuerish but nicely done, bugger all room in the back though, there were two polo mallets in there, hmmm!Carlton looks down on the tyres and really tired around the edges but is it worth it?

Posted

Depends how cheap really, if it's a 2.2 manual that would be quite a useful cruiser  If you get the chance to look at it, open the bonnet and check round the strut tops - if they're forked, run away! Mind you, I think the 6-cyls suffer worst in that area, the torque pulls 'em apart. My two Rekords with their much-weedier 2.0-litre donks were fine in that regard. My 2.5 Senator was just beginning to go...

To be honest I would expect the car to be free but it doesn't float my boat to be honest, if you want me to pursue it let me know

Can you get Gazoline over here? I always pick it up when I'm in France, but I haven't seen it for sale here. Although I think most of the adverts get put on their website. I don't go on there too often as I find it depressing - there's so much wonderful tat for sale but it's a) always in the bloody South so way too far to go with a Daihatsu and trailer and B) ridiculously expensive as old motors seem to make about three times as much over there. I came so close to bidding on that green R6 on eBay.fr though...

That celebrated eBay horder of Opel tat 'drewwomen' has an X-plate Rekord estate for sale currently.

Well I spoke to the owners son, boy the car is clean, as in rust free, his Mum's owned it from new and is thinking of giving up driving so he said he'd have a word and let me know so we'll see, 49 k and utilitarian, gorgeous! Now if the Carlton were an Opel!

Nah i've never seen it for sale here. A subscription is cheap though, only about 35 quid even here in the UK!

Here's the front of the Domino, still not mine of course:

And this is a little something I picked up at the weekend:

And then I spotted these:

this passed me at 7 yesterday morning, a 2000 no less:

in a local garden

and this was on the M23 on the way back from Crawley

Presumably the Rover 2000 passed you very slowly!More 240s? Tremendous work.

Is that recovery truck a 7.5-tonner? If so I reckon he's pushing his luck weight-wise with a tilt'n'slide bed and a '58 Cadillac  on the back... Love the SD1 - haven't seen one below a 2600 for years.Edit: Is that Daihatsu the 2-cylinder version?

Posted

Obviously I spotted the Rover and angled for a photo but he wasn't hanging around!Another 240? Couldn't resist!

A '58 Caddy surely

You're right, the tailfins are too short for an Imperial. Strange though, no matter how much I stare at the front end it still doesn't look like it has the high-mounted headlights of the Caddy... Weird.Edit: And the bumper is blatantly General Motors... Don't know what I'm thinking. Must be because I had to get up early this morning...The fact remains though that that truck has got to be pushing its weight limit.

The bonus thing with that Domino is it being parked on crazy paving, that always does it for me. Don't see enough of it out here.

Posted

Torsten, do you use the South Circular much? I've spotted loads on my way to and from the Saab. There's a tasty looking yellow Amazon at Tulse Hill.

Posted

Ideally the Domino will be on MY drive soon! As for it's size the DVLA reckon it's a 591cc, owners son reckons it's a 900cc!

Posted

591cc is odd, should be 617cc, but loads of small-engined Daihatsus seem to have the wrong cc on DVLA.Really hope you get it!

Posted

Hirst, hope I do too & the red one's not off the cards yet either!Seth, not much really as I'm avoiding the crowds but I shall take a slow drive early one morning!

I've just realised the rear lights of these are straight off a MkI Escort. Or the other way around, whichever came first!

He should spend some of that dough on some proper sign writing. Oh sorry, he'd need someone to hire him first!

I'm going to Belgium next month. To Zeebrugge on the Ferry then over to Bruge for 4 nights. Is it much good for shite like Holland / Amsterdam or is it too affluent and new cars are king? I'll snap what I can anyway, especially with the double purpose of reporting back to here afterwards!
