Dont want a 4x4, but just seen an X5 3.0 petrol on gumtree for £2800, it had a measly 116k on the clock.

V8 BMW for the price of a rebuilt Aldi, you say.....

These are only going one way price wise , the sub £10k e39 M5 will be a thing of the past soon. There are already some low mileage white room chancers asking £30+.

E39 m5 is one if favourite all time cars but their potential for expensive borkage is higher than in the s4

You only know it has been rebuilt through the owner being straight about it.

There are umpteen thousands of cars out there that have had engine rebuilds where no documentation ever made it to the service history. Audi vendor has been honest about it, it may be sweet as a nut.

Alpina e39 v8's are awesome cars and cheaper than the m5.

Saying that the e39 3.2/3.3 Alpina are pretty quick too and pretty robust.
