Cheggers Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Been meaning to photograph this beauty for ages... Merry Christmas to you all
r.welfare Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Cripes, where be that - I need a better look at that Monarch!
Cheggers Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Melbourne Rd, Winnersh, Berkshire - Opposite the doctors. The Audi parked behind it has a certain "patina" too. I would have gone for a close-up, but I had visions of a sort of Home Counties "Deliverance moment"
pogweasel Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Cripes!Begs all sorts of questions. Like was it in a state when it arrived? Because obviously the Audi arrived first, and is nowhere near as fecked. And that's galvanisation, kids!
Heep Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Love it! I've always liked those Monarchs, not many around these days.
Albert Ross Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Not many around, makes you wonder why.................corrosion perhaps?
Cheggers Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Nah, bit of plop & a quick blow over and she'll be fine....I've taxed worse

keef Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Been meaning to photograph this beauty for ages..Is there actually any paint on that at all? Wonder what's in the garage?
STUNO Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 theres a deep and meaningful story there somewhere..why was the mercury only on the road for 12 months after being imported ?and like keef I often wonder whats in the garage
Ratdat Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 That Monach doesn't look like it's sat on that exact spot for all that long so maybe someones bought it for the engine?
Mr Lobster Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Marvelous ! Bet the neighbours don't think so though.
Richard Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Marvelous ! Bet the neighbours don't think so though. No, the stone cladding and wanky trees suggest they are the kind of neighbours that would object to an old shitter parked next door.Maybe it's there purely to annoy them. It's something I've considered myself.
r.welfare Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 There's a house not far from there (Spencers Wood, Cheggers) that has the epitome of boatshite plonked in the drive, which has blocked out the view for the neighbours for at least the last 20 years...I'll try and get a pic.
155V6 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 There's a house not far from there (Spencers Wood, Cheggers) that has the epitome of boatshite plonked in the drive, which has blocked out the view for the neighbours for at least the last 20 years...I'll try and get a pic.I know the one you mean, but I think it's gone now
Cheggers Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 The boat in Spencers Wood has definitely gone - Must have been quite a task as it was a big steel-hulled beasty. Ratdat, the Mercury has been sitting in the same spot for at least 14 years, which only adds to the "what's in the garage?" curiosity.
fordpoplier Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Bloomin 'eck, don't think I ever saw one as bad as that, would have been squashed long ago.
Gompo Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Wonder what's in the garage?Looks to me like the garage is attached to the house, so inevitably it'll have a washing machine, maybe a chest freezer, old magazines, an old rowing machine and exercise bike and any other crap they dont want to throw out..
