corsa questions,help needed please

I mentioned in stupid questions yesterday that occasionally under load I get eml come on.O2 Voltage P0130 I think. I've noticed in a morning coming to work that for about half a mile when the engine is cold it's hesitant and lumpy then it picks up. Are these two things going to be related? I am going to pick up a maf sensor first and take it from there But wanted to know if it may cure the cold issue. Thanks folks.

Sounds like a Lambda sensor issue. Knackered MAF will cause it to idle like shit but a spare is always good to have on a VX.

That's the thing,we had a corsa a few years ago with a knackered maf that idled brilliant but wouldn't accelerate above 60,mine idles fine but don't like hills or cold mornings!

It needs a service.

It puts eml on under load on hills. I think that may help too Billy if I'm honest.

Ecp lists 2 different part numbers for my oil filter needed for my car. Is there a definitive way of knowing which I need as I can't really look at the engine number as the car is parked 2 mile away. It wasn't the alternator but the water pump making a noise. As I found out tonight when it parted company with the pulley! Plan to service car at same time but if I can't find out which it will be the service will have to wait a day!

I wouldn't know offhand to be honest, I'm surprised there's two filters for that engine, but I seem to recall there was a slight change in later ones.

Halfords are pretty good, is there one near you somewhere?

Nearest is 7 mile away, car is at a friends house as water pump shaft failed. Good thing is waterpump is nearly 100 quid cheaper than alternator that I originally thought it was

ECP usually tell you the difference if you click on the detail for each one, and often tell you what years each applies to.

Eg, on the Touran, putting in the reg lists two fuel filters. Click on details and one is up to 2004 and one is 2005 onwards.

After telling you the differences and which part applies to which year, ECP then carefully select the one option that won't fit.

Tried that Pillock, gives up to engine number 19ma9234 for one then after engine number 19ma9235. I don't know what mine is without checking engine unless there was a crossover point.

My boys one did the same thing under load and gave a p0130 code and changing the maf cured it.

Sometimes if maf sensor goes tits up it upsets the air/fuel ratio which the ecu assumes is an o2 sensor concern because the data its giving is outside the parameters it expects to receive so it throws an o2 code

I think the maf sensor can do all sorts of strange things and give different cars different symptoms. I was unsure if like cav said it just needed a service, shitty fuel filter or something

maf sensor is easy to diagnose - disconnect it . It will run a bit shit at low revs but if it has no hesitation higher up with it disconnected then its a poorly maf .

The lambda issue really needs some live scanner data to diagnose other wise you are just guessing and throwing money at it. On live data a primary (pre cat) sensor should switch from 0.1 to 0.9 volts about once a second and be a nice straight up and down waveform when engine is hot . Some vauxhalls have a different design of sensor that produces a constant voltage . These usually have 5 wires.

2 filters, long and thin, or short and fat, its a roulette, I can't remember which. I stopped using ECP for filters after they sent me the wring one.

I'll try the maf check first then. Got no way of being able to run live data on it. A friend said last night that maybe fuel filter needs changing and that's why it only happens under load/full throttle on bypass. It's very lumpy when cold too. Idles nice just don't really want to rev

Have you got the v5 there?

Another stupid Ecp parts question, I need to order a waterpump, they list circoli and kwp. They also list each one as either no sensor on for the detachable plate ones or with sensor. Now obviously I didn't think to look so don't know but if I order the one with non removable plate the connection will still be the same for the multiplug on my car?!

Waterpump fitted, service items bought. Can I as fuck as like remove the god damn sump plug. Hey ho,in the through the dipstick tube we go.

Posted

How easy was the waterpump to do? Give the sump plug a few knocks with a small hammer, or mole grips can shift it too.

Posted

Not a fan of sucking up via the dipstick, someone in a garage years ago reckoned it wasn't a good idea as you're dragging all the shit back up.

Waterpump was a piece of piss to do. Tjought I'd have to remove engine mount as I had to on a 1.2 corsa c but I did mine in situ. I've tapped it,banged it and twatted it but to no avail, tried grips too but as it is recessed there is not a lot to grab. I'm not happy either if I'm honest billy but looks like one option I have. Fitted new maf so now have no eml on but a flatspot low down Instead!

Changed the plugs?

The code was P0130, o2 sensor voltage low. Replaced maf but not erased codes. Didn't think I had to if light wasn't on? That could be the issue then?
