What is the best outside car cover to buy that actually works,i don,t want something that claims to be waterproof but is soaked underneath when the cover is removed.

Many are waterproof but I am very sceptical about their ability to avoid condensation.  Be interested as you are to find out other people's experiences....Looking for a solution myself!

Much like "waterproof" clothing..........no such thing, in my bitter experience, actually exists...............

I bought one from pj car covers of devon 2 years ago and its still doing well. ok one of the retaining straps ripped off in heavy winds but a very good cover at £142 delivered. One of them multi layered breatheable jobbies. No matter how cold it is I don't get condensation ever. Semi tailored. Bought for an xj6 now fitted on 7 series. A million times better than being left in the elements

^this^ just one night under a quality* cover ruined the paint on my mr2. Microblistered every bastard panel. Avoid.

Unless you're going to pay for an expensive cover my experience is that they're not much good. Mine, which is kind of cheap-ish range breathable (supposedly) trapped condensation badly, took it off one cold morning to find the car wetter than the outside world! The only reason I persevered with it was because the soft top leaks!

I use one from SIP, cost about £40.  Quite thick but not really multi layer.  Won't stop condensation that happens when the car is colder than the air.  But keeps it reasonably dry in heavy rain.  No substitute for a garage but I can't get them all in.  I like that it stops all the doors and bulkhead and so on getting soaked inside.

Night before last, I didn't put it on as it was already wet.  Car was really wet with condensation and it froze.  Could not get doors open when I left at 5.30am, so I had to climb in the tailgate and phone the mrs to come and shut the tailgate.  Then hope that it would defrost - I could do a Dukes of hazzard out the windows if necessary but not my ideal choice at the motorway services.  It did, eventually.
