I bought an MV6 years back from a guy living on a stereotypical sink estate, with old sofas and a washing machine in the garden. It was an ex police one and had a badly broken windscreen, but was really very cheap.

It died on the M6 on the way home. It suddenly went massively down on power and started rattling badly. I limped it off and onto some street in Gretna or somewhere like that near the Scottish border where it crapped out and refused to restart. I got the train home.

I put a post up on the blue forum saying anyone who wanted it was free to go and get it, I had left the keys in the glovebox and some dude went round with a beavertail iirc but it had already gone. Probably pikies as this was when scrap was worth a fortune.

I actually remember that post!

Shit, how depressing.

Didn't someone from the US post on here once that they had a Catera, and they shipped Omega parts over for it to replace the Caddy ones? IIRC someone even sent them some old age-appropriate numberplates they had...

I ran an Omega 2.5 td.

Had it for about 5 months, struggled to crack 30mpg, went well enough though and was velour-tastic inside.

Weighed in due to borked injection pump.

Conclusion: might, if pez and bridge money.

(Mine weighed for £225 in 2012.)

Yep, apparently Vauxhall and/or Opel badges are more fashionable/cool/prestigious. Life can be strange sometimes.

I know somebody who had the 2.5 V6 as a company car.

It was slow off the mark but ok once rolling.

It developed an ominous rattle from the top end - dealer said they would need it for a week!

As with any old luxo barge they are mega cheap to buy but not run - at the first sign of shitting itself you have to be prepared send it off to china.

The facelift ones look wank - as if they have a cheap aftermarket bodykit fitted.
