Anyone interested in buying my beast of burden Camry estate? T&T until end January, various faults which will make it expensive for me come next MoT but it still drives fine and is a very capable old car – nice clean interior, goes very well, does 30-32mpg even round the lanes. 2.2 16v engine, manual ‘box, 7-seats, massive loadbay.

The Bluebird is proving itself to be a more than capable daily, and with the imminent arrival of the mystery new car it’s not essential that I have three cars on the road.

If it doesn’t sell I’ll just use it until the T&T expire, then stick it in a corner, break it and wait for the scrap price to come up again, but if someone has a good use for it through the depths of winter – moving lots of big stuff, tip runs, mini-minibus, whatever – then I’d like to see it get used.

P/ex for trailer to tow behind my Bluebird, or asking £250 cash - there’s nigh-on £50’s worth of fuel in it (if that's less by the time it goes, obviously the price will be adjusted accordingly) and £30’s worth of tax, and given that it comes with a few spares courtesy of Joncedric and I’ve just seen a non-running estate with no T&T whatsoever make £142 on eBay, I think it’s a fair price for something so useful.

PM me for my number and I’ll talk about it more, but as Wuvvum and others will testify it’s not a bad old thing really.

Bump. Just cleaning it up ready to chuck it onto eBay this weekend. Going to stick it on at a BIN of £200, but with their fees etc if I get someone come along with a firm, cash offer before that it will be cheaper  May be possible to deliver it anywhere between here and J6 of the M25 over the next week or so.As it stand it still has 200 miles worth of fuel in it and two months tax, and if it doesn't go I'll just keep using it.

Well, no surgery in the way of welding. Tyres are OK. No ABS lights or anything silly coming on when they shouldn't.

It'll definitely need a 'screen, the crack that goes along the bottom is no problem in daily use but I doubt MoT man would like it. Could you sort that on your insurance? One headlight is cracked, but there's a set of spares courtesy of Joncedric.

Exhaust will need some sort of repair - centre pipe has broken just where it joins the flange that bolts it onto the rear box. The latter is mostly OK thanks to Scrapman's welding, and my exhaust place did manage to find a pattern one listed somewhere. If you can weld and have a selection of bends and flanges handy you could probably get away without buying a complete section. I was just going to cut the flange off and sleeve the joint as a temporary bodge, but that would render the rear box useless so I might just continue driving with it loudly...

Non-MoT issues are clicking CV joints - been like that ever since I've had it - and the oil leak which pushes a small amount onto the exhaust, leading to a comedy smokescreen when you slow up after a fast cruise. As I rarely do that it was never a problem, and it just needs topping up every once in a while.

I cleaned it up yesterday and it saddened me to think I might be condemning it, it still drives so nicely and while it does have a few battle scars it looks quite presentable still, certainly got presence. And it has a nice quality feel to how things work, the way the doors shut etc. The family have become quite attached to it as well, but with the Bluebird and not having windscreen cover on its insurance it just doesn't make sense for me to carry on with it

The results of yesterday's cleaning above.

If you're in Brighton I can get it as far as East Grinstead, this'll be next weekend.

At the last MoT, when there was just a small chip, my garage rang around and the cheapest he got a quote for was £120, don't know if that was with or without VAT.

Oh, that's not too unreasonable, given that the excess on most windscreen cover is £50. I have to admit I'm sort of tempted, having driven the old girl - now that the Subaru's died and the Galaxy has gone I haven't really got a load lugger any more.

ARGH! I'd love it but I got some insurance quotes...:shock::shock: etc...

Really? I must be old or something, think it only cost me £140-odd TPF&T this year :D Wuvvum, PM me an offer if you think it would be of use to you.

Hey SL, when do we find out what the mystery car is then? I'm itching to know!

Ha ha! Fairly soon, be a nice Christmas present to myself :P Actually, it'll probably be a terrible anti-climax when I do reveal it after all the secrecy
