Something is missing

From my subframe.

Just purchased a Citroen Berlingo so same suspension setup as 306/ZX/etc.

The front bolt on the l/h wishbone appears not to bolt into anything!

Rattling away as I was driving and I can feel there is nothing there behind for it to bolt into.

Have had a fumble on the other side and there is clearly something there that the wishbone bolt bolts into. Didn't have time to inspectigate further tonight.

So what is missing? I presume it is some sort of captive nut, can I get hold of this and just put it in or do I need a new subframe?

I am just about to scrap a Berlingo '99 1.9d if you want a subframe let me know as it is going over the bridge in the next couple of days

At least the wheel didn't fall off.

It's off the road now until it's sorted, but I drove it home a fair way thinking the knock was the anti roll bar linkage!

I appreciate the offer and will let you know, but you are a very long way from me. Unless anyone is passing Somerset soon heading towards the North?

Mystery solved, there should be something like this fitted;

I'm sure my local dealer can rustle one up for me.

Citroen's description is just 'caged nut', just a nut in a funny shaped bracket that must fit in a suitable slot in the subframe.

How it's got lost I've no idea but at least I can now fix it without the arseache of dropping the whole subframe.

As CAR mag noted when describing the assembly of the ZX, PSA worker unions refuse the Jap norm of welded-in captive nuts.
