Found some oil in the cupboard today whilst packing so treated it to an oil change-GOOD

Tried changing the rear pads-One slider seized completely and sheared off and the calliper carrier bolts are stuck/rounded-BAD

My scrapper Octavia has a nearly new nearside rear caliper if that is any help, the other side is in good nick too.

Aye I'll get there. Its just the timing that's a pain in the ass. Picking up a blowtorch tonight to heat it up, will try and get a calliper carrier locally to get it back on the road-the remains of the slider are seized into it. At least I'm not moving house on Friday. Oh wait...

I've not been on here much as despite having moved house over 2 months ago Sky/BT STILL haven't managed to find us a phoneline so no internet :(

The blowtorch did fuckall to the stuck caliper carrier bolt so a grinder was acquired and the bastard thing was off in seconds. Picked up a pair of caliper carriers and a pair of 150tdi Golf front struts/springs at the same time-more on that later. The caliper wind back tool I borrowed didn't fit the piston so it was nailed back together as I was moving house the next day

Moving house in itself was fun-managed to get an autoshite worthy 7.5t truck-an Iveco that was so rusty and shit looking I wanted to buy it.

The Octavia did well in the house move-carrying 5 bikes on the moving day and having moved muchas shite to the tip since then as we get the house into shape.

Even the missus came round to it's usefulnes "To hire a skip for a week is £175, you've just bought one which moves by itself!" Charming.

2 front tyres were a bit ropey-a bit of bad advertising on ebay netted me a set of 4 steel wheels with winter tyres for £50-no more of your posh borgeoius alloy wheels-steelies with no trims FTW.

I tried to change the struts over-managed to do the one which had a ropey spring but it was such an arseache-every bolt on this car has fought me, regardless of plusgas or heat. Mr Grinder has been busy. Still got the other strut to tackle when my will has returned.

However, most surprisingly, and despite its best efforts, the thing passed an MOT this week. It needed a track rod and a rear spring, aswell as a couple of silly wee things. In continuing with the tradition of this thing, the rear shock bolt sheared off when changing the spring, even after being soaked in Plusgas. Arse

Veg wise it's fine, although it can be a bugger to start in the mornings if the mix is wrong. It's runing about 50/50 at the minute with a bit of petrol thrown in and seems OK.

Plan is to run the thing til it drops which, as it has a full compliment of winter tyres, will be 2 days before the first snow here in Fife. No pics cos it'll make you all cry. It has had the pleasure of carrying a £6400 mountain bike about which I borrowed for the weekend-one of the pleasures of working in the bike trade....

Ladies and gentlemen

Roll up, roll up.

Now is the time to shift on this fine beast. I have the Merc working again* and no space in my drive for small Fiats so this needs to go

Since I got it its had

Coolant sensor

Oil, air, pollen and fuel filters

New pagid pads on front

Discs and pads on rear along with new caliper carriers

2 front struts from a 150tdi Golf GTi

Track rod and end

Towbar(still to wire in and never used)

Alloys it came with to go with it

Steels with 4 matching winter tyres fitted just now.

New spring for MOT

New battery

The boot now locks and it comes with a spare immobiliser key

It goes into limp home-although it'll still do 70-80mph so it's liveable with.

Google Mr Muscle on the skoda forums for how to fix.

The drivers window regulator is close to going the way of the others which are ininoperative.

Other than that it's fine-it's on 205k now and apart from some dodgy fuel which wasn't it's fault it's not let me down. MOT'd til October I think. The paint and mileage let it down but it's driving well now.

£350 to a shiter will take her away...

Now sold! Means I now have the Merc to rely on. Which I fixed. Gulp.

Don't worry, I've been driving cars that I've fixed for a while now and they've only broken a few times.
