2 Renault family!

There's a turnaround! From being a Rennerhater to having 2 in the household! Starlet is getting tired and time for a change and after keeping half an eye on Ebay for something suitable for Ms Tiff to run around in,a Migraine Coop caught my eye, lobbed a very cheeky offer on it, and was accepted straight away.. Picked it up this afternoon and it seems all good, apart from some gruesome noises coming from inside the timing belt cover. Priority number 1 tomorrow...belt kit and water pump. A PITA job, but the rest of the car seems to warrant it. Even the aircon blows cold!

Only suffered one breakdown on the way home- cutting out on the M80 after misfiring and popping for miles. Dead. Popped the bonnet to find a spanking new crank sensor. Everything became clear. car has been unreliable, garage has gave up, car sold cheap. Traced the Crank sensor wiring back an inch out of all the sleeving and all the insulation had fallen off the 2 wires, which had been randomly touching, cutting the engine. New wires soldered in and its 100%.

Braw- Mot's until next year, taxed, and all for less than a train ticket to London.

Ha! I hope you messaged the seller who neglected to mention the fault to let them know what an easy fix it was :)

Ace! New sensor didn't quite revive my Clio, it turned out the connector was in a bad way. Easily fixed, and I learned the meaning of 'they all do that'!

Coil packs in the boot, just in case?

Those Megane Coupes are still smart looking cars, they've aged well IMO.

Timing belt purchased, along with a waterpump and aux belt. gave it a wash and 'oooover and its bright and fresh, never smoked in ,only 1 electrical issue in that one of the fancy electric opening rear windows doesn't work...tyres all good, original exhaust still in place and A1, even the mad bolt on crossbeam thing is in 1 piece, and factory fresh

Timing belt fit day tomorrow.... I may swear. A lot. I HATE doing these on these...but  could be worse, could be a Scenic....

Coil packs only ever seem to go 1 at a time...It should always manage to stutter home on 3..

Well, timing belt kit fitted and not before time- cracking at every tooth. Water pump was humped which was causing the noise all quiet now. Job,as expected was a pain in the arse. All marked up, locking pins in, but as usual the cams needed to move, which means loosening the pulleys, which are TIGHT. Fitted up,built up, started first time, ran great for 20 seconds, then started juddering and blowing out white smoke. 30 seconds lated it started spitting petrol out the exhaust. By this time the garage was full of smoke.

Raging.

Stripped down again, timing checked, then checked again. All good. Built back up, started...same again.

Suicidal, hungry, tired and bleeding. now 10:30pm.

Management light on. Diagnostics plugged in, and shows no3 injector circuit. Engine running, touched no 3 injector and the bastard thing coughed then smoothed out to a perfect idle. A little more digging found the insulation to have dropped off the wire too, holding the injector open and filling the cylinder with fuel.

I must be getting soft,  but I still like it!
