Wally Parks "refreshes" Robert Stack on Muroc Dry Lake, in 1938. Stack doesn't seem to mind.

Parks went on to found the NHRA and Stack became an actor, playing Eliot Ness in The Untouchables (1959–’63).

Top Fuel Funnycar pioneer Della Woods, in 1968.
She and her brother Bernie campaigned their "Bernella" brand entries, exemplified by the "Funny Honey" Charger.

When Roger Lindamood, Don Garlits and Don Kohler signed-off on her competition licence, the NHRA revoked it, claiming, "It's too dangerous for a woman to drive in that class."

Woods countered by demanding NHRA to rescind all female licences (there were many female racers, just not many famous ones).

The resulting uproar quickly called NHRA's bluff, and Della hit the circuit within a week.
