Lancia lights are uber shite!  On dipped beams you might as well be using a mobile phone as a torch. Full beams are OK, I suppose.

PS: is this a world record?  Two sequential photos of Lancias in laybys that are not actually broken down.

erm ... Technically I wasn't broken down, but I did have to park mine in a downhill layby and bump start the thing. This was due to a slightly knackered alternator not charging the battery.

I did hear somewhere that BMW e30 lights fit in the beta's and are considerably better than the originals. I was going to try these on the latest HPE.

I was just thinking e30 lights would fit them a treat.

Go for post face lift lights (Aug 87 or newer) and spend 10 quid on some osram nightbrakers.

Best bit is, if you can keep the mounts intact you have 2 screws to loosen then you can swap the headlight aim for continental driving:)

Top tip.. e34 5 series lights are the same but in a different holder

BMW E30 lights are amazeballs.  When I first got one of those in 1989 I was astonished by how brill the dipped beams were.    The full beams allow you to see the outer planets.

Alas no they're no. Even aimed correctly, they are feeble. The osrams make all the difference.

I have a few sets of light lying about if anyone was after them

If you do have a couple of spare e30 headlights I'd definitely be interested as my latest acquisition may be missing some headlights.

Drop me a pm and I'll rustle up some pics and info on sat when I'm over at the parts store:)

I might also be interested in  some E30s.  My 1986 325i that I bought when it was three years old had mega lights.   I do not know if they were standard ones.

I watched Wheeler Dealers earlier (Porsche 993) and Edd talked about the difference top notch bulbs can make. I was very surprised at how much difference a top branded Halogen bulb can make when compared to the cheap ones from the local petrol station. Definitely worth trying better bulbs before changing light clusters

Or even better, E30 units with top bulbs and you'll be able to illuminate Pyongyang!

I've already done the "try the better bulbs" bit;-)

We're on the "buy my lights" section now :-P

Yeah, sorry about that 320, it was only after I pressed "post" did I realise I might not have helped matters!

After wife's iPhone debacle (see grumpy thread) I am not doing anything else tonight. No doubt I will go to bed later and explode or something equally annoying and inconvenient

The smiley should tell ya I was just joking :-D

Good bulbs do make a helluva difference

That's ok, the smiley suggested you weren't too annoyed!

Anyhow, BV72 is a clever chap and won't need persuading of the benefits of Bimmer lights on his Lancia!
