Brush with Royalty?

Trundling my merry way home this evening and I was overtaken in the 50mph bit of the M3 before Blazingstoke by a Bentley Mulsanne (I think, the 80s one with square headlights) with the reg number 'HRH VII' with slightly naff little crowns at either end. The guy who was driving was a tall fat guy with a moustache and didn't look royal, but the number plate perplexed me.

Anyone know who this might be? It wasn't a usual personalised plate job, its all wrong, which made me think it might have been a Nob of some kind, though the age of the thing also surprised me a bit.

Any suggestions? It was a sort of goldy-green colour if that helps? The driver was the only person in the car too.

Wondered if the HRH bit signified royalty or if it was just some twat with an illegal plate.

Some tosser with a mis-spaced plate I would think.

I got overtaken on the M1 by royalty a few years back. I was minding my own business in lane 1 when in lanes 2 and 3 appeared two black Range Rovers at very high speed. Followed by a Bentley (iirc) and then two more Range Rovers with relatively discrete flashing lights.

I've seen a newish rr around Basingstoke with an HRH plate, that was driven pretty badly too, iirc.

I've been passed on the A9 by a Royal convoy last summer. All black Rangies and Volvos, with personalised registrations that were seemingly random combinations of three numbers and three letters, and were presumably just to hide the age of the cars. Most seemed to be filled with stern looking guys dressed like the Men in Black, with the one containing Chaz and Camilla being in the middle of the convoy.

Any car with HRH on the 'plate suggests a chancer.

I think  it is actually HRH 11V that Bentley....

I've seen HHR on a Rover 400 before. When I say before I mean somewhere in the region of 15 years or so.

No help to your post but I thought it worth mentioning.

Last time I saw royalty was in 1977.

I was disappointed then, and probably would be disappointed today.

aaaah, thanks for checking for me! I'd convinced myself that it was V11, hence the confusion re weird layout of 4 letters then 2 numbers. Just a fat twat in a bentley then!

I might get little crowns on the ends of my next set of number plates, just so I appear to be a down-on-my-luck royal to the poorly informed masses. If I win the lottery it might be mildly* entertaining* to employ some stern looking men in black range rovers to escort me in my tatty Nissan around the highways of Hampshire just to see the reactions of other motorists as my motorcade passes.

Thanks all, as you were.

Years ago I was undertaken in Hyde Park by some cock in a drophead Aston, driving like an utter fuckbrain.  He had a bald patch, and there was a burly bloke in a suit sitting next to him.

Yes, him, what a cunt.  Just as they all are.   FTQ.

My mate had a Lancia Delta Integrale with the plate HRH until last year.

I put it through the car wash and it immediately burst into flames. Still that's another story.

In the back of my shed there's a white Fiat Uno with what looks like á—¡Oá—¡I4á—¡I faintly visible on one wing.  Bit dented.  I should put it on eBay but CBA to.

RH is a Hull registration so there used to be loads of them in these parts.
