Xantia help

Today I decided to change the oil on the Xantia. After a battle to get the undertray off I got access to the sump plug. All good except nothing but a tiny dribble came out. Bugger.

I took off the intercooler to inlet pipe and found this.

Now I am assuming that it is Turbo seals that have gone and it is Nom Noming the oil. Which again brings me back to the crossroads of what to do with it

I am a bit stuck with what to do next. Trying to weigh up the options

Good bits

Mot till Dec

Suspension all renewed including fluid

New tyres

Estate for dogs

Runs on veg

Doesnt owe us a penny

Good comfortable cruiser

Can fit my bike in the back

Underneath is pretty straight & MOT guy commented on what a good state it was in

Missus loves it and doesnt want to replace it

Bad Bits

Needs front discs and pads replacing

Replacement turbo

Clutch could do with replacing

Timing belt & Waterpump needed

Rear door jamb is rusty

Paint is flatter than Holland and stained

Issue is that I am skint with capital Sss.

Options that I have come up with

1 - Chuck the money at the car to get it all sorted, then run about in it knowing it is all fine. I reckon it is going to be close to a grand by the time I get it all done.Concern will be that other things will crop up.

2 - Sack it off and get something else. Not sure what it would be worth

3 - Buy that other Xantia on here. Stick Estate in the garage and take the engine out to do the bits before sticking it back in

4 - Play Xantia roulette and just keep going till it goes bang. Which will be when I need to get to an urgent meeting or something.

5 - Get cash together to get Scooters Triumph here. Get it MOT'd and running then take Xantia off the road to fix that.

Trying to get it straight in my head. Spoke to the missus who had a panic attack and then moaned about everything so it doesnt help.

Thoughts?

Perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

My xant did this and the mondeo that replaced it.

Carry on.

It's fucked, I'll be up tomorrow with £50 to take it away. It's for the best, etc.

Awesome. I am used to petrol turbots so not had oil literally pour out intercooler pipes.

Will ignore the rest of it then and keep oil topped up.

Thanks for offer Corsaviour, but men on interweb tell me you iz wrong....:)

WHS up there, there is always some oil in the inlet pipes of TD XUD's

My old Xantia only ever used oil when you hammered it on the motorway, she made it to 179,000 miles and the engine was still

sweet, just regular oil changes and a cam belt now and then.

I always wanted another Xantia but never found one with low milage, mine was the best one with no ABS or EGR to cause problems.

It was a go anywhere car, just fuel up and go.

Quick rebuild at test time, you know everything you had been ignoring, then carry on for another year.

Plus they are a comfortable, economical long distance motor.
