Possible sale of 944. Looking for idea on value?

As topic header, may be looking to sell my 1988 944 but have no idea what it is worth!

Loads of work done. Both sills repaired, excellent interior, decent paintwork, cam belt and balance belt replaced recently, just had full service. MOT until October 2014. High mileage (189,000) but nothing wrong and reliable daily driver. All electrical stuff working. New battery. Turbo Twist alloy wheels with newish tyres. All stuff needing sorting has been done. Plus a lot of stuff done that didn't need doing! Short shift gear linkage.

Not a for sale thread as such, just an idea of value! Just never gets used as much as I would like, hence possible sale.

Bought the car in 2011 for £1300 and have since spent over £1800 on it! Sad I know!

:-)

Tough one good ones can make strong money but the earlier non s2 ones seem to top out around 3 grand. 2500 maybe?

Tried sticking it on Tipec or Porsche club GB? A good one with sills and belts done should sell pretty easily. Show us a pic A ) to help give us an idea and B ) cos I like em...

I'm sure there were pics the last time I looked. What happened to them?

About exactly the same as a 2004 VW Polo 1.4

Well, try the old "It owes me £3 and a 'alf grand" bollox that I've had from used car dealers.

as in : It's a bottom of the range pre face lift 156 8 valve diesel, with high miles, but you've had to buy a clutch and a dual mass fly wheel, so you want the same as a 3 year newer 156 24 Valve Diesel, with moderate miles.

Seriously I don't know what it's worth, but the more you ask the better people will believe it to be.

That is well fit.

I have no idea on price as quite frankly if you look online prices are all over the place. If I was you and was going to sell it and

a - was in no rush

b - wanted to maximise profit

I would stick it at a realistic top end value based on its condition etc and then just drop it gradually if it does not sell. With a good advert you can get people in and once they are there they are quite likely to buy really as it looks luverly.

Thanks for the kind words!

In reality the paintwork is not as nice at it appears, with some fading and a bit of wob on the drivers door.

Have done rattle can with a coat of laquer 'repairs' which are noticeble but not too bad! Any rust was cut out and welded repairs done, rather than just using filler over rust etc.

Twice the current value if you remove those ghastly number plates and surrounding chrome trim off.

Haha! Nay problem. If you seriously think so then.....

Double your money! Buy it yourself ( at the current value ), take off the ghastly number plates, and chrome trim (off again?) and off you go. Get twice what you paid for it!

Old out yeeerrr ' aaanddd... Etc..

Lol

Think I left it on though - he said he was sick of telling people what the car was.
